got myself the collectors edition this morning, well I "Pre-Ordered" it yesterday lunch time. The assortment of goodies is pretty awesome. Glad the UK Collector's Edition didn't receive the nuking that sometimes happens (removal of stuff, booklets becoming black and white printouts). Shame I got uni in 2 hours. Gonna have to make the most of this time.

Finished a few more quests.. Some skills are quite important this time round when doing quests... I just finished a quest but I don't know the outcome because I don't have a high enough skill in a certain area I'll find out later the consequences of my actions in this game or the next game..

Ok, after fighting with my PC (which of all the time now, seemed to play up with the registry and some of the system 32 files had to go all hay-wire) and now it should be fine, I've spent around 2-3 hours in the game, here’s my initial impressions.
What a great feel to it. There's something about it that actually does feel pure fallout. Everything about it feels right in every way, and even the combat in first person (even if its small tweaks) does such a ten-fold job better than Fallout 3.
And damn that ambient music and the Mojave radio station. This is only a small piece of the world and I'm already falling in love.

Well, I'm wandering around Goodsprings right now. Game seems awesome. Geckos, Healing Powders, Super Stims...plus the odd bit of humour.
Sadly, the PS3 version seems shit. I've had two game lock ups and a wierd attack of streams of black and white shooting from a mountain top. Fallout 3 behaves itself better. Most irrtated.

Yeh it has a great feel to it, I started noticing that around the time I got to Primm and the sun was setting.. very nice atmosphere.
Which version are you playing Enrico Marini? PC I'm guessing? Might want to try the things I said earlier.. I've only had one crash out of about 13 hours of gameplay, and that was because some external program tried to pop up. This engine is also a lot more friendly with alt-tab btw.
I just got my first companion. Actually, I got two.. They're very useful at taking down groups of enemies. They could literally take out a whole town without really suffering major damage at the moment, maybe I should be playing on very hard.

Holy shit, talk about bugs, this one was actually killing my computer! I found out that Fallout New Vegas, probably one of the third party tools glitching up, was actually causing errors in some of the ATI programs and caused the system 32 files to play up.
Wow, I've never had that before. Be careful with some of the nexus files. I am sticking to the UI and multi core fix for me and wait for stable fixes that have been tested for some time.

Yeah, I got the PC version. In anticipation I updated my sound and graphics drivers but it still goes on to crashing. Annoyingly it either makes my whole PC lockup or blue screen and restart, something that neither Oblivion or FO3 would do (they would just crash and allow me to either end program or would terminate themselves).

Sorting out the sound codecs is more important than updating the sound drivers. Maybe try installing DirectX again.
Zombie_Fred: Your talking about the DLL performance file? If you are, yeah I didn't try that because I wasn't having any problems. Seems to be 50/50 whether it helps or not.
A good way to boost FPS is to set bDoSpecularPass to 0 in Fallout.ini (not falloutprefs.ini). Though it will go back to 1 whenever you change some settings.
I just did an awesome city raid with the NCR against the legion. Blew up some of my own men with a grenade launcher by mistake haha. I'm about level 9, my guns is on 90.. need to get my explosives up though, its only on 40. Survival skill seems useless doesn't it? I'm sure that will be modded first, the camp fires and stuff have real potential.
For my new character after this game I might make a Birkin/Wesker sort of character. Put a load of points into science, medicine, repair. Might make a more interesting survival type game. My current character is currently a commando type character, I'm aligned with NCR so far, until I find someone better..

Everything is going good so far. I'm currently helping out Prim with their sherief problem, while exploring the area. I want to take my time with this game but my first experiance with the first time in a "dungeon" was pretty rad. Difficulty is just right with Hard and hardcore mode set together for this. A good challenge. Also glad how reputation works between factions and how they respond to you (powder gangs for example). Consequences are sure a bitch!Last edited by Zombie Fred; 10-23-2010, 07:38 AM.

I didn't explore any dungeons till I got quite far east, must of found something different to me Hard is good for single player but I recommend increasing to very hard when you get a companion. Factions are much better in this game, I just hope there are some more major ones other than NCR/Legion.
I also haven't seen any power armor yet, which is good. Prefer the low-tech stuff right now.

Having read the origional Fallout 3 'Van Buuren' design documents, I gotta say, this is bizzare. I keep running into things I know about from there, like having claims in the ruins and the powder gangs. Even Ceaser's Legion was in there.

Ok, I've come across the best thing yet in New Vegas spoilers below to those who havn't first met Ceaser's Legion.
Spoiler:
I first went into the town to see it a slightly ablaze, and then the powdergang member comes up to me estatic, "I've won the fucking lottery!". Realising he was a group I've been killing, and them being scum, I shot him in the back and stole his lottery ticket thinking it would be valuable. Soon after, I come across the legion, talking to the leader of the group. Turns out that they circled all of the scum of the place and gave them tickets to allow only one who had the right numbers to have his life spared. Unfourtantly the irony on this was that it was the guy who I first come across and killed because of what he was!
Brilliant humour.
