  • Lack of choice in this game killed it for me. Too many must have requirements and not enough "Yeah well I'll just do this" type alternatives. Not being able to do some stuff with the Legion because I am using a woman character is lame also, story reasons do not excuse that when I cannot enter the arena because I am a woman and 'inferior' yet he is willing to rest the fate of the entire Mojave on me?

I sank easily 350+ hours into Fallout 3. I've played through New Vegas twice and I'm on my third playthough and stopped playing, both times I started a new character I did not reach level 30 on my previous through boredom.

    • I've essentially stopped playing simply because of those damn glitches. The last two times I played I tried exploring the Mojave desert just to be hit with blue screen errors and totally crashing my PC. Essentially I just got pissed of having to try and navigate around the same set of mountains twice.

As much as I'd like to complete my first play through, I'm just so god damn sick of the glitches that they turn my fun and relaxation to pure rage.

      • I'm thinking of going through this again when the rest of the DLCs are out (I haven't tried Dead Money yet), anyone want to join in? This game needs more love!

That's the plan I am going to do, and with some enhanced mods to go with it. Glad to see you had a lot of fun with Vegas, Scream. How many characters did you end up having in the end?

          • I really enjoyed Dead money, it was a sort of new fallout experience but still remained true to the rest of the game. Some of it was ridiculously hard but it was worthwhile getting through it all.
I'm a bit hit and miss with the actual game though, I love some aspects but for me the general storyline just sucked ass. Too many choices making you have to play through the full game again repeatedly to get the achievements etc. I stopped on my 3rd playthrough, stuck on the legion ending. Just can't kill the general at the end and it annoyed the hell out of me as I'll probably have to play the full game again at some point now

...have they fixed the hideous glitches yet? Once they do that it'll be back on my 'to play' list.

              • Yeh I thought Vegas was great. I enjoyed a lot more than FO3 in someways. I only ended up with two characters - Scream and Albert Wesker (melee hybrid). I might make my next character Don Draper (fallout has a sort of mad men feel at times) and possibly do a no-kill run.. but that may be boring with the new dlc. I'll wait and see when its released.

Not sure if they fixed the ps3 bugs Darkmoon, PC version was always fine for me though.

Also glad to hear Dead Money is a decent playthrough. Sruprised to see they raised the level cap as well, that should definitely be interesting when planning a char.

                • I recently started a hardcore run and don't really know how this is going to play out. I'm working on creating an evil ninja of sorts.

                  • I've been enjoying New Vegas but I've enjoyed wandering about and finding old abandoned safe houses and stuff far more than I have the actual story I've got over 50 hours or there about maybe more I haven't checked lately but I still haven't even set foot in New Vegas yet. I got to the gate and just kinda wandered off, like:

"Well that looks dull oh the caravaners head quarters . . . oh whats that shack"

I think I have explorers ADHD now I'm back at the Bunkers of the Brotherhood of Steel and killer super mutants with a buster sword Cloud Strife style . . .

                    • I must have an amazing copy of said game because...NOT FUCKING ONCE HAVE IT EVER GLITCHED UP! Dam straight. Fallout 3 is easy as pie compared to this beast of a game. I agree with said comments about the copied and pasted perks. That was the only turn off.

                      • How long do you play the game? I just started my hardcore run last week and have amassed over 50 hours of playtime already. I think the glitches only show up if you play for really long periods of time. Perhaps something to do with the amount of data that's stored in RAM?

Hardcore is kicking my ass. Every time my companions die I have to restart (so far I have Veronica and E.D.E. with me) and in all honesty, the only reason I keep them around is to hold excess shit really. I need to ditch Veronica as soon as I complete her side story, and perhaps get Lily. Haven't done hers or EDE's side-story yet. I can't really trust the AI to survive, so I go into battle and have them shoot from afar by making them wait a bit a way from where all the action is. They rush in and get killed and have to start over from either an auto-save or previous save. If I know I'm going into a hostile place, I try to save often so if they die, I don't have to redo massive amounts of backtracking.

                        • I also never really had many glitches with New Vegas unless I've been playing for a long time. Could probably use CleanMem for an even better experience. FO3 is another story but probably because I play with so many mods.

I've been playing Fallout 3 again while waiting for the NV DLC. Here's some unique weapons from FOOK2 - still missing a great deal of them though.. Gotta love going through the wasteland with these and ironsights/realistic sound effects..

                          • i ain't touchin' any of the DLC till it all comes out. and maybe Bethesda won't be an asshole and they'll release it all on 1 disc instead of doing small "add-on" discs with 2 on each one.

                            • Get the GOTY of Fallout3 all the DLC is on the second disc inc. Mothership Zeta and it's DRM free you could borrow it from someone else who has it and presto. As for NV I bought Dead Money the other day there in the April 1st sale since it was half price (400m$). . .

                              • I've purchased the Dead Money DLC, but haven't yet entered further into the Abandoned BoS Bunker, due to fact that recommended that I rake up some XP until my Courier reaches up to at least Level 20. So I decided to do so. (I'm aware that there was the option to continue regardless, but I thought rather then jump into it willy-nilly, I might as well get up to Level 20 just as a precaution. I'm currently up to Level 17 if I remember correctly...)

I'm really looking forward to getting the Lonesome Road DLC add-on for the game, once it becomes available that is.
