Another vote for a Legacy of Kain sequel. The story is no where near finished. The irritating part is just such a sequel was being planned, got cancelled and the talent behind the series were laid off.
Ah, yes, The Bouncer! One of SquareSoft's little babies from the time when they dared to do random shit. One of the first DVD titles on the PS2 (actually, might've been "the first". At least in Europe it was the first DVD release, if I remember correctly.)
Game was pretty much entirely made out of Final Fantasy VIII assets recycling, and it still makes me laugh how Sion is hilariously awkwardly similar to the design of Sora (Kingdom Hearts). It's as if he's a stepping stone between Squall and Sora in Nomura's evergrowing belt of uninspiring character designs (His designs worked when other people were supervising the art direction and shit)
Game didn't come with any FFX demos or anything like that. What it did come with was an absurd amount of replay value. At the end of every stage, you got to pick between one of the 3 characters (which to play as next), this wouldn't affect the story in any way, but it'd enable you to see the story from the perspective of the various characters and get to peek into their individual little worlds of why they're there and what their connection to all of it is. Pretty awesome system, really. Either switching between the characters multiple times during a playthrough or going solo with one of them to just see their stuff.
I'd love to see the formula repeated, but I don't think a sequel to The Bouncer is the way to go.
I thought it would be much too early for a demo of any kind regarding FFX. The replay value was what won me over with the game, the fact that you could play through it a number of times and learn more and more about the overarching story arc from everyone's perspective. I also remember having a LOT of fun with the local multiplayer since you could play as the antagonists, like Mugetsu and friends.
Sega needs to finish Shenmue properly... they've spent so much on it till this point and just left it as a cliffhanger. The rest of the game is already planned, they just need to put the thing together. Given what they've done with Yakuza it's a possibility they could pull it off.
I also concur with Eternal Darkness and Legacy of Kain.
LucasArts needs to do the same thing they have with Sam and Max and finally do the proper Full Throttle sequel they've attempted twice already, even if it's episodic.
Spencer - As mentioned the Bouncer didn't come with any bonus discs. I'm unsure about the US, but in PAL areas the demo of FFX came with the PSOne re-release of FF6.
- A sequel to The Bouncer (I actually found the campaign to be quite easy, and the versus mode was fantastic. Great early PS2 nostalgia. It's funny, for years and years I couldn't put my finger on what the name Dauragon C. Mikado was from yet it kept popping up)
- Perfect Dark getting the XBLA treatment. I've always thought that if Perfect Dark had online play at the time of its release, it would have been hailed as the greatest multiplayer FPS to this day. The customization was insane and the rankings and stats gave you a healthy sense of pride. The specialty sims were as fun as they were amusing (VengeSim, FistSim, PeaceSim- that annoying fuck- JudgeSim etc), the weapons had such variety (tranquilizers, laptop sentries, and proximity pinball grenades ftw), the maps were expansive yet easy to navigate...to think that it was this easy for them to overhaul the crap out of Goldeneye. The story I don't quite remember, but I do recall being disturbed that these reptilian alien creatures (Skedar I believe it was) were mimicking this posh dressed human.
There was this PS1 action/adventure game that was set in these sleek silvery laboratories and the main character wore white clothing I believe and he had long hair. As general as that sounds, the mechanic that stood out was the way you'd either replenish health or augment your abilities. You'd do it by injecting these performance-enhancing drugs. Does anyone remember the name of it? I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel, or playing it again.
