  • Greatest Beat-Em-Up of All Time Being Remade for XBLA

    Cowabunga, dudes!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time is being remade for X-Box Live Arcade.

As you may or may not be aware, this year is the 25th Anniversary of our boys in green, and as part of the shellebration, there has been a TMNT road tour van making its way across America. The van is apparently showing off an Alpha build of the remake, which is being completely redone with 3D graphics, and the Ninja Pizza blog has posted some screenshots and information from it.

*The game is set up and directly taken from TMNT Turtles in Time.
*Right now it's only going to be for Xbox Live, but they're working on bringing it to Wii (Virtual Console?).
*It has the same music as the old game.
*Only the levels "Alleycat Blues" and "Skull and Crossbones" were playable.
*The only difference noticed was the bosses for the "Skull and Crossbones" is Tokka and Rahzar (unlike the original, which had Bebop and Rocksteady).
*For Alleycat Blues the boss is still Metalhead.
*The game is basically Turtles in Time with new graphics - Awesome!
Based on the fact that Tokka and Rahzar are the bosses of Skull and Crossbones, it appears that this is a remake of the arcade version and not the SNES port. If they bring it to Virtual Console, I'm guessing it'll be the SNES port, which, in my opinion, was far superior to the arcade version.

To be fair, the game hasn't even been officially announced yet. While it certainly sounds like the remake is based on the original arcade version, they may add the SNES-exclusive stages, as well. It's anyone's guess at this point.

If they don't add them, however, then I really hope they can release the SNES version on Virtual Console.

Oh, and just to remind everyone of just how freakin' awesome this game's soundtrack was:

I'm rocking out to it as we speak.

          PIZZA POWER!

I don't think that it's the greatest Beat them up but I'll admit that it is FUN game.

I used to own this for SNES. Best. Beat-em-up. Ever. Then I lost it. And I was sad. D:

But they better remake the SNES version. It's my favorite!

Please, please...no Nightwatcher. At least not the metallic, armored kind.

I still state that Streets of Rage, Final Fight etc are side scrolling beat em ups therefore can't be qualified as traditional beat em up's, but to be honest I was HOPING this was news of a Streets of Rage game, but since all next gen remakes of classic games stink *with a few exceptions like bionic commando: rearmed*, im kind of glad it isn't.
