    • The release date of this game is "When it's done". Anything else, and we mean anything else is someone's speculation. There is no date. We don't know any date. If you have a friend who claims they have "inside info", or there's some game news site, or some computer store at the mall who claims they know - they do not. They are making it up. (So is Metacritic!) There is no date. Period. And yes, we know the game has taken a long time. There's no possible joke you could make about the game's development time that we haven't already heard. :) [3D Realms]

      • Due to a pricing cock-up, some Blockbuster stores had the game on shelves for £3.70 or something like that instead of £40. Don't even think it was worth THAT price to be honest.
        See you in hell.

        • Another negative review to add to the pile:

          5.0 Presentation
Duke has not aged well. As simple as he ever was, as irrelevant as he's ever been.

Ouch. Sounds like Duke fans expecting more of the same silliness will be satisfied, and everyone else should steer clear.

          • Thing is, majority of the people who were Duke fans back in the day are either dead or insane.

                  • i think its basically waht you want from duke btu never expect form a new age FPS. its the old school argument of realism Vs having fun. and thats what this game is. I'm not always popping behind cover, waiting fro my health to refill, then popping a few rounds off. im mowing the bastards down, punching one in the face then i break the other ones neck.

                    • Duke fan or not...can you really justify buying this game at launch price when it'll pretty clearly drop within a month or two? This game just screams rental or bargain bin to me, and it always has. When a game takes this long to release, you expect it to be a quality product. With that in mind, I think IGN's review said it best:

Duke Nukem is an icon of mid-1990s video game culture – brash, vulgar and committed to the art of the one-liner, like a twelve-year old boy with internet access. His association with Duke Nukem Forever's extended development cycle has propelled him to legendary status, attaching to him an undeserved significance.

If you enjoy the game, more power to you, I'm not trying to impede on your fun...I just hope people don't regret the purchase.

                          • I think today when we are more aware of how games actually reflect the community to the rest of the world, it isn’t difficult to believe that games such as Duke Nukem has other people looking at it and thinking “well, if this is the kind of stuff they enjoy, they’re less evolved than we thought.” There isn’t a big chance gaming will ever be taken seriously by those outside the community, but those of us holding wistfully onto that dream probably feel as if these kinds of things are holding us back.

Or someone buys them for you as presents, yes.

                              • Ahhh fuck the critics, they are missing the point. Duke Nukem is just what it's supposed to be. A manly straight up shooter. It's not Bioshock or Singularity. I feel like I'm playing an HD version of Duke 3D and that's what I was expecting: Smack some alien bitches and throwing oneliners. It's not outdated, IT'S OLDSCHOOL.
