Haven't played this one yet, I didn't really expect it to be a real game.. the whole forever thing was like some weird marketing ploy. Duke 64 was good though with its 4 player split screen mode that didn't quite rival Goldeneye but certainly had its moments.. We built a cardboard template for the TV so we couldn't see each other's screens, when that was stuck on the TV, you knew it was time to get serious..

But they did! Not on proper HD though.

What I'm trying to say is that Duke Nukem is being what it's supposed to be, and people are reacting hard because they were expecting a superb narrative masterpiece like Bioshock... You get to see tits, blow things up, spit one liners. There are things I don't like, for example having only two weapons: WTF is that crap, Duke's about being a badass having an arsenal and using it to obliterate aliens!

It's not perfect, but it's not as bad as the critics are making it. My guess is that they we're expecting something greater due to the development hell that plagued this game.

Like I said, people who are expecting more of the same old tits and misogyny and over-the-top ridiculous Hollywood shit that would please the 13-year-old boy in all of us will probably enjoy the game. Anyone who comes into this expecting a well-played FPS are going to be disappointed.

I still stand by my initial impressions that the game will get a drastic price drop within a month, if not shorter.

fine...is it really a crime to download freeware? i mean its only duke nukem 3d HD. besides im talking about the demo. you cannot say pirating a demo is illegal.

Xbox. So far I have seen some SLIGHT screen tearing, but haven't experienced any game breaking issues yet. I'm halfway the game I think, won't go on details for obvious spoilerific nature.

Vector, I can't see why you say this game isn't a "well-played" FPS... The game sure has some "platform" sections, but the combat is there and it's quite good, fast paced, it's not extraordinary but I wouldn't say is bad. Try Darkest of Days, that's a bad, broken FPS.

All right I can give you that one... But the running speed in that era was crazy. Try Doom 1&2 vs Doom 3. You'll feel you're using a tank.

I know the source code of DN3D was release years ago, but outside of that I think the game is still purchasable because Take2 still own all the rights to 3DRealms back catalogue.
