So let's try to see the glass half full... I think this is a much fairer review of the game:

Oh man, the easter eggs in this game are hilarious.
Spoiler:
The companion barrel (portal 2), 47 sleeping with the fishes on the dam (hitman), the green armor that only pussies use (halo), crowbar references (halflife)... I remember trying to find them all on Duke 3D, guess this one still continues with tradition...

I found a Dead Space engineers corpse in the hive, thought that was funny
Spoiler:
We know that Duke will be President of the US. The 69th president to be exact LOL. And also there's the ditched Dr. Proton comeback that wasn't used for Forever...
I believe that Gearbox can do a great job with the franchise. Just as long as they don't take 15 damn years to do it. I don't want to have 40 years by the time Duke 5 is released!

Spoiler:
So they were planning something with Proton. It'd be interesting to see him back.
I think Gearbox can get but out in a decent clip. but I'm not expecting to hear anything about him until at least Colonial Marines has been out for a bit.
Although it wouldn't surprise me if they are already planning another game.

Spoiler:
I missed the 47 reference. Need to go back. The helmets and the barrel have attached trophies... had a good laugh at the "valve puzzle."
Duke's unlock code for the gun at the end of the Duke Cave is 1138.
The Pig's pulling down the Duke statue is obviously alluding to the toppling of the Saddam Hussein one. Which is ironic and interesting given the Duke branding/control of Vegas and what the aliens do to it.
When you get into Vegas, aside from the Halo helmet Dylan's comment about the soldier's wife is a Gears of War reference. Not long after that there is a Leeroy Jenkins ref as well, proving you can never keep an old meme down.
There is a constant spinning top on one of the desks in Duke's Club, alluding to the dream nature of the level and obviously then in reference to Inception. The ATM in the same level, if you hit it twice, has an American Psycho reference.
Obviously the pre-credits ending with the KIA is a Modern Warfare reference too.
Someone said there is a Lost reference somewhere in there too but I missed it.Last edited by Rombie; 06-15-2011, 11:02 PM.

Sweet... I didn't catch the Saddam reference, among many others that you mention... After finishing the game, on the sound board, I noticed a Mortal Kombat reference, has anyone found it in game yet?
Also there were two funny bits I forgot, the Donkey Kong & Mario reference on the stairwell section on the dam, where the pigcops launch barrels at you; and the Gears of War mocking when you are little and have to get thru a machine between cogs and gears.

Spoiler:
In the dam there is an aliens reference.
Soldier: But I don't have a gun what am I supposed to use"
Other guy: I don't know, harsh language.
