  • Rumour Control: Microsoft apparently software testing MGS4.

Courtesy of TheSixthAxis. According to the latest rumours, Microsoft are software testing MGS4 for the 360 and have been doing so under wraps since late last year. Take this with a pinch of salt, but if these rumours are to be believed then we're all fucked. Fanboy wars will consume the entire internet.

    Madness...the madness begins...

Presumably, this'll be that "MGS4 + Oxide" rumour that was making the rounds not too long ago.

No problem if MGS4 is on the 360; the more the merrier. I just don't have to run through that MGO Konami ID bullshit and hopefully they ditch it for live.

Konami fucked up with that nonsense. I remember waiting for days before I could even play the beta of Metal Gear Online, simply because their online architecture was so dated. They knew it was going to be a major seller, but they didn't anticipate that the servers would need preparing.

I'm also intrigued as to what this "killswitch" is that was mentioned, about destroying hacked consoles.

It's weird, they say that Microsoft has a button to activate a internal button inside to heat the 360 and cause it to RROD, but this was only for hackers/modders at the high extreme. I think that it would of been found when people looked inside the hardware devices, I think it's not true, and a few things there too.

But this MGS4 360 rumour is going like the mad for the past week, different sources and articles keep pointing that it would be seen at this E3 in the Microsoft conference line-up. My opinion, it would be good from both sides, I can play MGO (oxide?) with friends without the konami crap on the PS3, and it would make sense for this year for Koanmi to try to get another million or more units sold for a profit fiscal year, considering there's pretty much nothing so it's a good move, but I wont take much of it at the moment and just wait.

It's gonna need rendered cutscenes for one.
Only two cutscenes in the entire game are rendered.
                      The PS3 version 29.9GB
5 DVD's... change disc on Act endings instead of waiting 3 mins.. they could do it.

The audio will be the main culprit to be compressed, and I know a few of the scenes in MGS4 already (the Ocelot boat scene) were rendered on the PS3, that is some of the stuff I have heard. The game will defiantly be compressed.

The cutscences where you can't zoom are rendered.
There was also one when Vamp falls off REX, it's very short though.
