Yeah, holy shit. Looking at my previous post it's clear why I never thought of the idea that the white-haired fellow may not in fact be Raiden. It's a stretch, being that it looks a helluva lot like Raiden, but MPO seems to relegate Gray Fox to a ninja image.
Man, if it is, I can't wait to hear Big Boss say "I forgot to tell you, you need a gas mask/bomb blast suit/remote-controlled missile..." in HD.

OH MY GOD!
i seriously hope this is a prequel and has Naked Snake as the protagonist, i feel as giddy as a school girl right now!

MGS1 was an awesome game, MGS2 was an acceptable sequel and beyond that's it's just not good anymore. I really don't get why people keep going back to it, it's never going to be MGS1 again. It's like all the other franchises in the world that have spawned a stupid number of sequels, none are good yet people keep flocking to them, and with every new one they make it takes away a little bit of what made it so good in the first place.
Originally posted by Mr. Spencer View PostWell, Big Boss looks far too young to indicate any form of remake for either of the MetalGear games. If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that it's going to be a prequel taking place at some point after Portable Ops. I reckon it'll be Big Boss leaving the Patriots and building up his reputation as the "legendary soldier", travelling round the world as a mercenary while recruiting soldiers for Outer Heaven. So yeah, Big Boss fighting in numerous conflicts and civil wars, meeting people, recruiting them, laying down the groundwork for Outer Heaven and preparing to stage his own rebellion against the very organisation that he was once a part of.
Who knows, we might even see just exactly how things went down that caused Big Boss to abandon the Patriots. The origins of the Les Enfants Terribles program, etc. So I'm guessing that the time period will be either the 1970s or the 1980s, though definitely taking place after Portable Ops.
1970/71 - Portable Ops
1971 - FOX is disbanded, FOXHOUND is formed by Big Boss.
1972 - Les Enfants Terribles
In fact, I also think it would be interesting to see FOXHOUND as a sort of Patriot-sponsored elite special forces, devoted to indirectly serving the interests of the Patriots and their goals. Who knows.
But I'm not to happy about Raiden though, i think they ruined him enough in MGS4, i hope that's Grey Fox and not Raiden.
I wonder what the setting will be, maybe the stormy clouds and dead field have something to do with that. Also i hope for the return of camera angles in MGS5.

1. My issue thus far is Kojima can't leave well enough alone and not allow his team to make the game without him directing. One thing for him to be involved in planning and produce or exec produce, but dear god... let someone else direct for once.
2. My first though was, which if the NeoGAF translation states correctly as much, that I'm expecting this to cover numerous time periods, explaining why Raiden and potentially Big Boss are involved as such.
3. As much as I like the Metal Gear series, I'm actually very dissapointed the announcement isn't something other than Metal Gear. I'd rather at the very least Kojima went off and did something else before returning.

It's not that I'm unhappy with next MGS game, I love to see what it will be about, but at least Kojima could just shut up and stop repeating himself how much he would like to pass MGS game to some else.Last edited by Mr_Zombie; 05-27-2009, 01:02 PM.
