  • Weekly Rock Band DLC Thread

I'm sure that I am not the only person here who plays Rock Band/Rock Band 2.

So, discuss each week's new DLC release right here!!

I'm honestly quite stoked for June 9ths release of 12 Iron Maiden songs!!! I've been hoping and praying for Iron Maiden to be in this game ever since it first came out (no, the two cover songs DO NOT count)!

They still need to do something about the retarded censorship in songs, though.

They have songs about pedophiles, drugs, sex and other shit, but having the word "shit" in the lyrics of a song is still frowned upon and cut out (gotta love censorship, MTV and a few other funky things out there!)

Please do tell me why games don't take proper advantage of the parental settings system...

Why the hell are game rating systems as they are now versus self-censorship options in games of the past such a huge step backwards...

But, yeah, I'm not very excited about Iron Maiden getting added, though I envy the Guitar Hero crowd for getting The Touch (Stan Bush) this week.

Personally, I'm hoping they'll evt. do a Monster Magnet pack with God Says No, Unbroken (Hotel Baby) and Spacelord.

Also looking forward to the next patch (should be out sometime soon-ish, I suppose), so I can start to use my wireless LIPS microphones with the game

I like very much using my wired mic! I get to scare the living christ out of my cat by shaking it at him

Welp, this is what we're getting next week:

        * Ben Harper and Relentless7 "Shimmer & Shine"
        * Coheed and Cambria "A Favor House Atlantic"
        * Coheed and Cambria "The Running Free"
        * Phish "Wilson (live)"
        * Shooter Jennings "Steady at the Wheel"
        * TV on the Radio "Wolf Like Me"

Personally, I could give a crap about all of those.

I would have been jealous, but then I found out it's his 2007 edition of the song and not the 1985 edition he made for the movies release in 1986... and sadly it's not as good. So I didn't feel as bad in the end.

            Seriously?
(Or, wait, the 2007 re-recording wasn't that bad, was it? It's not the "let's throw in some mid-life crisis man rapping" version that was made for the new movie, right?)

No, it's not the latest "2009" edition with the slow melody and rapping in it (if that had been the version on GHWT I think we would have never heard the end of it). Back in 2006 when the first film was under production, Bush re-recorded the original song because the fans thought it should be in the movie. He released it in 2007, but it wasn't picked up and used... but instead we get an even crappier version for the sequel. Go figure.

Stan Bush revamps the original 'The Touch' with a 2007 twist! Enjoy these brand new tracks early!

Here is the 2007 version. It's better than the 2009 edition by miles, but still not as good as the original... after more than 20 years, his voice just isn't as powerful enough as it was and the whole song is kinda not as strong overall.
