  • Milo technolgy in future games?

I was just thinking about that Milo Project video. I think it's more than just a gimmick, what if they somehow integrated it into real video games. Like an RPG for instance. I think it could change the face of gaming forever.

Forget controllerless gaming, what about actually being able to talk to and interact with the characters in your game. If done right it could be one of the most interactive gaming experiences ever, don't you think?

Imagine the possibility's of this new technology, I'm getting exited just thinking about it.

    Mass Effect dialog trees:

Print main char dialog options on screen (as obviously creating a scripted scenario will require some paths you have to follow), let player read them out, let natal interpret the attitude to pick the right reaction from the NPC.

Anyway, thing is, people have to avoid being narrowminded about things like these. You could still use a controller to play with, even though you might be using natal for a lot of other inputs.

Personally, I'd love to see a full adventure game done with this. Like, classic point 'n' click stuff, kinda, just turned into something like this. (Konami did "LifeLine" on the PS2, which was a Parasite Eve clone, more or less, set onboard a space station. Controls in that game consisted entirely of you instructing the main character to do stuff via a microphone.)

Yeah there would still have to be some level of scriptedness to it, but just adding the technology that Natal Milo uses would make it so much more awesome. I really hope someone tries this soon with a new game.

I still prefer controllers too, so don't use natal for everything, just for things like in game conversations and such. It would be really awesome.

Natal has untapped potential i think.

Oddly, Lifeline also popped into my head Carn... as flawed as that mic system was, it was definitely a good attempt.

The gameplay applications have more interest to me, use of ideas... like being involved in some sort of squad shooter where you have discussions on tactics leading into a gun fight or something. Milo is took gimmicky under his own system, but incorporating those ideas into other gameplay would definitely change the way people play videogames.
