I liked the first one. In fact, It's probably the best on for me. It has this charm to it, which is great for someone like me who grew up on most of the movies in this game.

KH2 lost the charm of the first one and while it had nice gameplay, none of the bosses or situations in the game actually called for more than XXX^X. Take a look at the Thousand Heartless battle. Great chance for a decent fight but it ends up deliberately being just a bunch of enemies you can use the triangle command to wipe out easily.

I remember playing a bit of CoM and it was nice, but I don't remember enough to place it.

Too true. KH2 was an extremely watered down version of KH1. The battle system was simplified and the challenge that was there in KH1(Maleficent, Riku, Ansem) completely disappeared.

Pretty much. i also found myself using magic a lot less. They ruined Fire (turning it from an auto-homing missle to and effect circle). I found myself relying on Keyblades much more in KH2 while in KH there was a nice balance.

To be fair to KH2, it did some things right. Opening boxes in battle, item shortcuts, more fluid movement, etc.

1st game was amazing, I played 2 and simply couldn't enjoy it anymore since Squarenix like to go the tween way for games now.

Genso Suikoden > Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts and anything else that Square-Enix has in terms of RPGs. I don't mention Star Ocean, since they were initially an Enix contribution, and Enix were good.
                See you in hell.
