Yeah, Valkyria Chronicles is a bitch to find. There was a tiny, tiny print run for some reason. You can grab it from CEX's website at a pinch though.

it's a beautiful platforming game, with some amazing level design. Parts are jaw droppingly awesome (as in they inspire awe).
But for me, the best part of the game by far, is the level creation.
I haven't even tried to copy designs from any existing IPs. I love thinking of things in my head, and then trying to realise them in the game. This is the first game in AGES that has kept me awake in bed, trying to figure something out.
And the game doesn't present the challenges in this sense, it's my imagination.
The last level I was working on (before I had to send my Playstation home to Australia) was a concert. There was a guitarist, and you have to plug his amplifier into the wall, and then plug his guitar cable into the amplifier, and then he plays. Using springs and a motor I got it too look like his right hand was strumming. And I'd devised a way to make his left hand move up and down the fretboard, and have his fingers move, but I haven't implemented it yet. I was having too much fun putting beer bottles and ashtrays around the set, to make it look more authentic.
Even if I never release these levels online, I love the challenge of realising my imagination, which not many games offer. I actually think LittleBigPlanet is underrated.sigpic

Siren Blood Curse is an amazing game, loads to unlock and has easy controls. The story is alright and the weapons are fun to use. It's also a very cheap game that you would get hours out of, if you wish to unlock everything. Dam I love the Hospital level in that game, the only thing to scare me since Silent Hill.

Heavy Rain just looked like a lot of incoherent scenes of bad voice acting and QTE's so i'll probably give it a miss or wait a year or so till its reduced.
Never was much of a fan of GT5
Forgot about FFXIII Versus but again, not out for a long time.
Preordered Uncharted 2 and God of War 2, and I didn't think much of Infamous, felt too much like Spiderman 2 with poor storytelling, limited quests and bad AI and level design.

Also, yes, Folklore is all kinds of awesome. Must beat that game...

I don't get the excitement for either Heavy Rain or Alan Wake... the latter reminds me a great deal of AITD, which was enjoyable enough for the price I paid for it ($25). That was the PS3 version, which I know fixed some of the glaring issues of the original. Even then, the game was a huge pot of bugs with enjoyable puzzles.
NG Sigma 2 is something I'd like to recommend, but it just depends on how it ends up. The original was buggy, had slowdown (wasn't fixed 100% with patches), and had some obnoxious design choices that masked the fact that it was easier than the original. The media released thus far shows a good improvement (one of the few shooting gallery boss fights is a 1 on 1 fight now) but I'm more concerned about the frame rate. They've bumped up the resolution with a number of visual improvements. which really take a backseat to a smooth frame rate in an action game.
Before AJ comments, yes, I found NGII more fun than DMC4 by a long shot despite the flaws :p
GOWIII is in a league of its own. It's not a pure action game, nor is it pure action/adventure. I suppose it's closer to the latter with a visceral feel.Last edited by Umon Daisuke; 06-28-2009, 05:58 PM.
