  • Square-Enix Takes a Page from Kojima's Book

    Teaser site is up!

If you have the sound up, you can hear music playing. People are speculating the "4" as "4 Warriors of Light", not to mention Squenix recently trademarked the name. 4 Warriors of Light, for the young'uns (I'm only 16, but I had to say it. XD), is a direct reference to the first Final Fantasy game.

DS remake of it? Console remake? Is Squenix just screwing with us and making another iteration in a different series? Or a new series altogether?

    Let the discussion begin!

Personally, I say think about it: the 8-bit music, though not a song from any of the FFs that I can think of, sounds very adventuresque... the number 4, Squenix trademarking "4 Warriors of Light"... c'mon. Then again, I'm probably one of many that Squenix is gonna fool and pull the rug out under from. I've been asking for a FFI/II DS remake ever since FFIII came out for it, and moreso when FFIV came out. One can only hope!

The music, although not entirely accurate, sounds very Gameboy-ish in nature.

SaGa 4 coming to accompany a certain remake and other stuff?

I'm all giddy at the sight of this, even if I have no idea what it could be. Final Fantasy is the first thing I think of but with 13 and 14 and Dissidia getting an American and European release, I doubt that another one in the series will be announced.

Another Count Down to look out for lol
Hope it's a type of classic Final Fantasy game, maybe a sequal to one of the classics, I'm hopeing something to do with 6.

Seems like Shonen Jump spilled the beans (kotaku link) The Four Warriors of Light: A Final Fantasy Anecdote

Is that the Pollux Engine? (The Echoes of Time Wii/NDS cross-platform engine)

Ah, seems pretty interesting. I'll be keeping an eye on this.

The 4 warriors of light are the 4 main characters from Final Fantasy (they have no actual names)

Until they have a countdown to a countdown, they have nothing on Kojima

Update: The site's now up. Though more or less entirely in Japanese.

Click that bottom link on the list, though. I see two things: DS (obviously, thanks to that Kotaku link), and 2009. This is good.

i hope its not another retro remake of any of the first 6 FF games. what a waste of time that could be going towards something else that's actually "new".

I think Kotaku said it was a brand new game, just in the style of the older games or something.

What little info there is makes it sound like it's FF1 getting the FF3 DS treatment (basically giving all the 4 previously nameless heroes names and full background stories and such)
