Claire Redfield [Resident Evil 2, Code: Veronica, Degeneration]

I just love her basically. I think that she's the most....real character and I've felt like she's the only protaganist that has had a natural story. She hasn't become a badd-ass ninja warrior, she's a protestor. It's brilliant that they've done something different with her.

Sander Cohen [Bioshock]

Of all the people in Bioshock, Sander Cohen, the sick fuck, is my favourite. It helps that he's in my favourite part of the game. He's just...amazingly crazy.

And my brain just froze on me. I'll post the other eight some other time.

1: Tails Prower (Sonic the Hedgehog)
A true Icon from my gaming Icon, this character had it all; being a fox, can fly, looks awesome, and is the best side kick in any game. Sonic the hedgehog 2 still remains the best title ever played today.

2: Adrian Shepard (Half life opposing forces)
This crazy son-of-a-gun could escape everything at Black mesa. The bastard cheated death in every corner, and this was the chapter out of the series that went to my heart in the Half life series and become a big fan. Nominated for second best character in the series goes to G-Man.

3: Sam Fisher (Splinter Cell)
If I could think of any voice in a video game that stands out from the rest then Michael Ironsides voice for Sam fisher is the one. It just fits the character and the espionage agent as a whole. David Hayter for Snake gets nominated for after Sam fisher here.

4: Duke Nukem
Never bet on Duke
The video game character who invented the comedy in first-person shooters with his over the top liners. Never forget.

5: Agent 47 (Hitman)
How could any of you not put him on the list?! A bad ass in a suit with his red tie, killing his target in any way necessary, with the sand box open for how the player takes out his assignment in any way means.

5: Leon S kennedy (Resident Evil 2)
Leon is the first character I come across when I saw the series as a child when I was eight years of age, when watching my uncle play the game over at his house. I remember being scared the fuck on the sofa when I saw the licker, hiding behind the pillows, but still hearing the sound of the licker in the room. It would soon be that I would come to love this series and enjoy Leon as the rookie cop in Raccoon city, and then becoming a full time ninja in 4. Second nomination goes to Chris Redfield.

6: Master Chief, John 117 (Halo)
I know what some of you are thinking when it comes to Halo, but its universe is so rich (If you have read the novels, explored the world, and also read the logs on the terminals in halo 3) that I think the master chief is strong icon in video games on how huge the series has become since the first.

7: Commander Shepard (Mass Effect)
Go and play Mass Effect to know why. And to those who do, it’s all about the universe and being in the middle of the stage of this epic tale.

8: James Raynor (Starcraft)
fan of the Star Craft universe from Blizzard entertainment, Jimmy is the classic hero who does what he thinks is right, having a down to earth approach while trying to achieve his goals. Seeing him in two to be a burnt out drunk with a few inner demons still left is going to be interesting to find out.

9: Frank West (Dead Rising)
This mad mother fucker has covered wars you know.

10: Frank Castle (Punisher)
Remember the classic arcade 2D action brawler adventure in the arcades; player 1 being Frank and the second being Nick fury? Well if you don’t, you’re missing on a classic.
