This game actually kept me on the edge of my seat...I think I may have even jumped a few times. EA Redwood did a heckuva job on this title. The first time you play through this title is an experience to remember.

Not much replay value, but a truly amazing game - atmosphere, story, gameplay.

Enemies could have used more variety, and some are kind of cheap and/or lame, but overall this is an exciting new IP.

I recommend it to all, especially since it can be found on clearance for like 20 USD.

Am I the only one that didn't think it was all that great? The story was poor at best. Wasn't very scary. It made me jump once.

no your not,I think it sucks. The Controls suck. The story doesnt interest me at all and the main character is a dull emotionless character who doesnt talk through the whole thing except yell when he gets attack. It's not even creepy its very predictable.

Yes, the fact that we think this game is a total snoozefest makes us blind. Oh, how I bow down to your wisdom.

I'm guessing you haven't played too many horror games this gen?

I found this game boring and didn't like it. That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with me.

I agree with you to a degree. It was great until the end of the first Stalker chapter and then I thought it just sucked. I found it very boring and reptative after a while.

I really enjoyed it. I felt the story was ambitious and the Necromorphs were both different and scary. I do wish Isaac had got a little more to his character but the universe is so deliciously rich and creamy.

It may not be the best game ever but I'll go out on a limb and say there hasn't been a better horror game published for this generation yet.

I agree here fully. For me there hasn't been a better horror game, or any game really that came out this gen that was better than Dead Space. COD4 is mighty close though.

The story was very average. It didn't really interest me at all. I liked it for the first few levels, then in every level, I found myself thinking "Okay, is these environments going to change?" and they never did. The last level was the only one which I found remotely interesting. I actually gave my copy away the day after my first playthrough, that's how confident I felt I wouldn't want to replay it anytime soon. I've not yet.

Lol, not really. I'll probably give it another try at some point but not anytime soon. Probably in the winter when it gets dark earlier. I just really didn't enjoy it.

That's understandable about the environments. The bland setting was kind of self-imposed by being staged on a giant spaceship. I still felt enough contrast though, but I do believe that the enemies could have used more variety.

I also felt the story was just fine - especially considering that most horror games I've played have lacked one...even though I am a huge RE homer, I can admit to the stories tending to be rather poor overall. Dead Space is the first title (in its series), and if you compare it to the first RE, well, IMO it is above-and-beyond in all regards (and yes, I also know that it is a game issued over a decade later).

As for you parting with the game immediately, it is true that Dead Space doesn't possess much replay value. If it weren't for trophies, I may have never played it more than twice.

But the first time I played through the game, I felt the same trepidation that I hadn't felt since my first RE romp. The enemies truly made me nervous, as they were fast & vicious.

Dead Space is what RE4 and RE5 should have been. Scary.
