The difference between the ammount of resources needed to make games this gen. and last gen. is colossal, so the comparison is flawed by itsself.

If youre making a big budget title, you cant experiment all that much. You have to stick to a winning formula. Yeah, theres not enough new good games, but what can you do?

Oh, wait. You can just get a good PC and enjoy the mods that come out for many games that are great on their own, enjoy immensely increased replay value each of the mods adds to the game.

"PS2 graphics are more than good enough for me."

      Agreed.

I can safely say there are numerous games for the PS2 that still look incredibly sweet compared to some games of today's standards.

Try playing your PS2 using component cables on an HDTV, the colors are significantly more vibrant.

"Why are they so crappy that every action has to be done as a movie or a prompt?"

I've been saying this for years. Its no different than watching a 6-8 hour long movie, and I can't stand long movies anyway. I fell asleep watching The Shining remake (the 6 hour long one). They need to make games exactly how they're supposed to be, like games. They need to stop focusing on graphics, and work on new ideas and fun adventure style game antics. They could easily make a really long game (or better yet..) release the full complete Resident Evil Outbreak under one disc with all the original scenarios they had in mind and still pull off pretty decent graphics IMO.

"Uncharted, Resident Evil 5, MGS4, CoD4, Dead Space, LBP, GTA4, Resistance 1 & 2, MotorStorm and possibly Uncharted 2(!!!!!!!!), GT5, Heavy Rain, Saboteur, God of War 3, MG Rising

      Must I say more?!?!?!.........."

I played these, didn't like any of them besides Dead Space and MGS4, but even still I thought MGS4 was kind of "meh" compared to MGS2: Substance. None of the new games coming out even sound remotely interesting to me.

      Bottom line:

      PS2 all the way.

Although I can say the games that came out during the end of the PS2's lifetime were somewhat going down hill, except File #2 of course. But still, I can enjoy playing some of the earlier titles like Dynasty Warriors 3 & 4, RE Outbreak 1 & 2, MGS2: Substance, The Thing, Red Faction (the only FPS I found entertaining because of Geo Mod).

Which brings me to yet another complaint, where are all the new games with Geo Mod technology? Red Faction was the only 1 that I know of that managed to pull off fully destructible environments, and the damn game was released during the peak of the PS2's life!

I own about 16 games for my Xbox 360 of which i dislike... hmm, zero. I think it's less about poor quality of games and more about personal expectations.

For me its the online and a good variety of weapons. Also the 360 won't stop till 2020, so more good games shall come out during that period of time.

Are you interested in RPG's? If you enjoy either western or Japanese RPG's then i would recommend getting the core/arcade 360 and purchasing the cheap/pre-owned RPG's, because the 360 has quite a large library of ok to excellent role playing games.

I did the same and i'm having a great time picking up the now dirt cheap pre-owned game's.

P.S i dont think i said RPG enough in this post...RPG!

Sorry for the double post but where did you hear this? I don't agree, but if it is a good article i'd like to read it.

Consoles seem to go in six year cycles but the 360/PS3 will probably have a bit more of a shelf life than that - But i can't imagine this generation going on until 2020.
