I never got into collecting retro systems, such as Atari, etc.

1/2 of the consoles I own were given to me by people that "made mistakes", "grew tired" and/or "outgrew" them. The rest I found at dirt-cheap prices over the years, at garage sells, etc. Imagine one's surprise to find an original PlayStation 1x model and an original NES+SMB3 collector's edition, both in boxes with all manuals for less than 30-40$. People around here (WVa) definitely don't know the value of what they've got...

I was gonna say, that's alot of money to put into consoles...one of may friends is asking her alcoholic mother if she hasn't pawned off her dreamcast so that I can have it.

While I didn' pay top-dollar for all of them, I have bought atleast 1 of each console, brand new (with the expection of the PSP I got from Dot50Cal). I don't know the total, but i'm sure it adds up to something [aweful].

I didn't want to mention it, but sadly, I have obtained some consoles from alcoholics/addicts. Just last year, I paid this guy 7$ for a SNES with all hookups, 2 controllers, Mario All-Stars and Tetris/Dr. Mario so that he could buy a cheap 12-pack of beer. Even more sad than that, he has since passed away (he drank himself to death, literally).

I feel like shit, that I contributed to his disease which eventually killed him, but so goes life...

I had the original PS but was destroyed and also had the original ps2 and original psp.
