Well this game is looking to be brilliant, the graphics are pretty decent looking (not the best but certainly not bad) and the Character creation looks great. I also love how you can choose you own origin story (not surprising since this game is coming from the creators of Mass Effect) which i find to be pretty interesting as the characters react to you differently depending on what past you choose. One thing that does bother me is that the combat looks a bit boring from what ive seen. I could be wrong as i havn't played the game yet but it doesnt look like my cup of tea. I will still get this game though as everything else about it looks pretty amazing.

I saw some promo cards for this and it claims to be the 'spiritual successor' to the Baldur's Gate series. I find that a strange claim since Baldur's Gate is a Dungeons & Dragons world. From the screens I've seen it looks like the combat/exploration will be over the shoulder 3rd person.Last edited by Harry Mason; 09-17-2009, 11:13 AM. -
Looks pretty epic if you ask me. Mind you, I'm a big fan of Bioware, so I'll do my best not to sound too biased.
The way they are advertising it, it looks to be about 60+ hours long depending on which race and class you go.
My only worry is that the from the footage I've seen, the game seems to suffer from really bad framerate issues. Mass Effect was pretty laggy at times, too - which only amplifies my dread. The game is still in development, mind you, so here's hoping I'm not worrying over something they'll fix.Comment

Mass Effect used the Unreal 3 Engine which was partly responsible for texture pop up problems and frame rate issues.
Dragon Age doesn't use the same engine.
Depending on the platform of choice i'd say it'll probably run good on all, although infinitely better on a good PC.Comment

Thats good to hear, ive started playing ME again and the frame rate is pretty poor. Looks like they have fixed that for ME2 and i havnt noticed as severe fram rate problems in the newer trailers for Dragon Age which is a great reliefComment

I've been keeping an eye on this since Feb.
Hopefully it isn't mucked up. I know bioware is making it, but I didn't like Mass Effect at all, so I'm hoping it proves my skepticism wrong.Comment

Well i got this game on the release date and it is amazing! the Story is really involving and the banter between characters is a great touch too especially since some of their conversations are both incredibly funny, Serious and down right rude
morrigon and Alistair had some hilarious conversation that ended up with morrigan stating "If i was to suck anything of yours you would be the first to know Alistair" haha. I was worried that i would find the combat system boring but its actualy really fun!

Alright, I've beaten the game once and started a second character. And lo! My first character's saves all vanished. Which was annoying. Is that normal on the 360?
Also, Leliana staring at Morrigon's boobs was a fun conversation.Comment

No your character save should still be there, when on the load screen press X to change characters.
I have 8 characters on the go *played through each origin to see the difference etc* and they're all fine.Comment

US, January 5, 2010 - Today, BioWare and Electronic Arts put rumors to rest and announced Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening, the first official expansion pack which is slated to be released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 16, 2010. The expansion will require Dragon Age: Origins and will cost $39.99.
Set after the events of Dragon Age: Origins in the land of Amaranthine, players will take on the role of a Grey Warden trying to rebuild the order of legendary warriors. Along with this monumental task, players will have to discover new secrets of the Darkspawn menace as well as face off against deadly new threats such as the Inferno Golem, Spectral Dragon and a mysterious foe that calls itself the "Architect." Fortunately, Awakening raises the level cap of the game, and provides new abilities, spells, specializations and items for players to acquire.
Players will also have the option to import and revise their characters from Dragon Age: Origins, expanding on the customization of their heroes. Players can also choose to create a brand new Grey Warden from the land of Orlais. Five new party members will also be available for players to recruit and add to their band of adventurers.

So this is more or less a sequel than an expansion. I have to say I'm really excited about this. I wonder how long the game will be. I can't imagine it will be longer than DAOComment

Well it is an "expansion" since it requires the first game in order to be played, but in terms of content and value you are getting then I would say it's worth the 40 dollars/25 pounds that trumps some game titles that have been sequels this generation. Anyhow, trailer is below

Official site* Choices in Origins definitely are recognized in the expansion.
* You do import all of your gear from Origins, but not from the chest in Soldier's Peak. But you can always pull out what you like, save, then import that save.
* You can't play an Orlesian Grey Warden in Origins.
* Amaranthine is indeed the coastal arling that once belonged to Rendon Howe. And, of course, everyone will speak with a Jamaican accent. OK, maybe that last part isn't true.
