I just suspect that there's way too much effort put into fluff, rather than substance (as pretty much evident by everything revealed about the game so far)

i don't. you don't need font and a symbolic that big. the U.S. box is perfect fine, its not too big, but its not too small. its just medium. anyone who stands behind the glass shelf and stares right through it just to look at the box art's font isn't gonna have to squint at it, unless you are really that blind.

seriously, the font is big enough to read. look at MGS4's font. its not that big, but its still readable.

Ok some new pictures have came up on kotaku showing off Oerba Dia Vanille's summon hmm not bad ow yeah and Cid
Not much time left before Final Fantasy XIII is released in Japan on December 17, but Square Enix has released some new screenshots — mostly of characters Cid Raines and Oerba Dia Vanille's summon, Hecatoncheir.

Her summon looks an awful lot like Magitek armor.

Curiously enough, I guess it kinda does...

Dunno what to criticize first, though... that it looks like a Magitek armor that wants to be a nautilus decorated with exhaust pipes... or that the person sitting in it believes she's in a Japanese gravure photoshoot or Dead or Alive Xtreme 3...

It's FFXIII who's insulting the magitek designs! Heck, even the non-Amano design that was used in-game is upset!

Random note: I love how the PlayStation port's opening FMV uses the Amano design on Terra's ride, while Biggs and Wedge's are slightly more industrial/streamlined in their designs, carrying a slightly greater, but still distant, resemblance to the non-Amano in-game designs...
(Throw in some arms and the pile drivers/exhaust pipes on the back and you're almost there.)

As long as it's better than the shit storm called Final Fantasy 12, I'll be pleased.

I've never played a game where the storyline failed to hold my attention more than FFXII. Like...I honestly didn't give a rat's ass about any of the characters or where the storyline was progressing. I played the game for about 30 hours before I just got completely bored with it and stopped playing, which is something I had never done before that. The gameplay was refreshing but that was about the only redeeming factor for me.

i put about 150 hours into my first playthrough. i didn't beat it, but yeah. more than enough hours to keep me interested in it. then i ended up starting over and doing it differently.

I played it through with my housemates *XII* so yeah probably about 126 hours by the time we finished it although we were taking turns to fully 100% it.
