Final Fantasy has become really boring IMO. I used to be a big FF fan but now, they just don't seem to be trying as hard as they used to, they know it's gonna sell millions so they just throw out whatever they can with the FF name attached. The trailer for this game was just awful! Dull sounding storyline and god awful dub! Really makes me wish they'd go back to using the old text boxes! I dunno it just seems like Square Enix aren't bothering much anymore, they'll make their money so why bother spending many millions on a great production when they can spend half of it on a half assed production and still get the same sales numbers? It's a shame. And no, i'm not one of those people who won't be pleased till they remake FFVII, actually i want them to leave that alone already, they've milked that game dry, then tried to milk it more, and more, and they've killed it.

I agree on everything said. They should keep FF out of the MMO world...and they have completely fucked up FFVII with all the spin-off games and shit...

I'm probably one of the biggest ff fans but I have to be honest this game isnt really blowing my skirt up.
I think things started going tits up when enix stuck there ignorant,moneygrabbing beaks into squaresoft "sigh" thats just my opinion though.

I'm the exact opposite, I'm insanely excited for this game. I haven't been this excited for a game in quite a while.

Well thats cool, its just seems the latest installements of great series arent living up to hype.

I don't know, everything I've seen is making it look like a classic. It'll at least be better than XII. I was a bit unsure about this game myself at first but everything I've seen has led to me to believe it's going to be a fantastic game.

I'm definetly going to approach this game with the same respect I have with all final fantasys.
I just havent been 100% since enix got involved. IMO the ps1 installments where the best and the only thing that held X( i know its square-enix) back for me was the abscense of a proper world map but then things just got steadily worse.

The first ever ff sequel X-2 was a joke,then came the raping of final fantasy 7,11.....I dont know what the hell happened there,12 surprised me as I enjoyed the new battle system(which I was initialy against) but the story ,characters and whole world was just so damn boring(which is what final fantasy is all about)

I never thought the day would come when I wasnt drooling before the release of a new final fantasy but unfortunately it has and it seems all too coincidental that when enix got on board was when the series took a dip in quality.Its sad but final fantasy is becoming a gimmick!!

See, whilst I loved the World Map in the older games, it has gotten to the point where one isn't needed. It would actually be weird to have one now.

X-2 divides fan opinion, yes. XI I can't give an opinion on as I haven't played it. XII....I don't mind now. I used to hate it but I replayed through it and it isn't bad. The story and characters could be improved upon but it's not a bad game.

And X was SquareSoft by the way. (At least I'm pretty sure it is. X-2 was the first SquareEnix FF game wasn't it?)

ETA: I hope this post doesn't come off as me jumping to the defence of the series at any criticism - it's not what I mean to do at all.

Final Fantasy XI was released under the Squaresoft label as well, and it is an awesome game thank you. Not in the US, no, but the original Japanese release surely was.

Enix contributed to keeping Square alive in the first place, so be thankful for the good we do get.

Actually, now you bring it up, i can't think of anything Square's put out since the Enix takeover that i've actually enjoyed.

I think your probably right about X.

Dont worry about voicing your opinion as I certainly wasnt trying to indicate you where wrong in any way, I just thought I'd explain as to why I'm not so thrilled with final fantasy lately.

As for being thankful to enix I'd rather have seen squaresoft go out on a high note instead of letting enix basically ruin any quality they had left.
This is why I'll always respect people like hideo kojima who choose quality over quantity of sales.

Its more of an issue of the staff leaving the company, then Enix causing anything. Enix produced plenty of great games that sold multi-million copies (not to say Square didn't). The issue isn't with a company, the issue is with the talent and the overseers of it all.
