Yep, that was one problem though, months ago. You seem to be the recurring case of doom. Mine works awesome now. Even still, ive never had a single DRE, harddrive error, anything error, except for that one time.

Ugh so frustrating. They need to cross ship me one I swear. It looks like this ones going in too, I cant get the damn game to play more than an hour before DRE pops up. Drive stops spinning and click click click *DASHBOARDED*. It doesnt even care that I was well on my way to doing Zombie Genocider.....god damn I hate xbox.

Heh.
The worst console i've ever experienced for problems is the Dreamcast. Had the spindle snap on 2 of mine, both brand new consoles and lasted less than 6 months each
Then theres the "reset" problem, but luckily, thats an easy enough fix. I love the console itself, just a shame about its durability. I have 3, 2 as back ups, just in case...Last edited by Cyber_Shinobi; 10-23-2006, 12:27 PM.

I'm having the same problems with The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, I just recently purchased my Xbox 360 3 months ago, worked pretty fine the first month. After a while though it just kept giving me Disc Read errors whenever I would talk to NPC's in the game.
I'm just praying I won't have to replace my 360 or get it repaired because I'm short on cash. A few helpful hints I learned:
- Keep your 360 in an open area with room to breath
- Keep your 360 high above ground
- Never move it while its turned on
- Put a cover on it at night to prevent dust from coming inside the air holes
Still doesn't prevent it from getting Disc Read errors, but I'm sure it'll prevent your Xbox 360 from getting the red ring of death. Most 360's from 2006 are OK, but if you bought it in 2005 you are more likely to get the red ring...Last edited by VirusPunk; 10-25-2006, 06:38 AM.

That may very well be... but if you're saying your not having any problems with it then you should be fine. It more so happens to the people who bought the system on launch day though.
Also for the record, a guy working at Hollywood Video told me a little about how Dead Rising fucked up his 360, he had to replace it with a new one. This is one reason why I didn't get Dead Rising, I've heard horror stories about how that game can ruin your system and I'm not going to take any risks despite it being a great game. Sucks for me but its still better than having a broken Xbox...
I still love the 360 regardless of the horror stories, despite having DRE's every now and then its still a great system and far more realiable than any PS2 I ever owned. I think its just your luck dot, hope all goes well for you and your game.
One more thing, if you want to kill zombies you can check out Oblivion that game is full of dungeon crawling (and headless) zombies for you to enjoy killing. Any TES player would say the graphics are the best ever seen, if you can handle the DRE's and long load times.Last edited by VirusPunk; 10-27-2006, 01:38 AM.

I've been playing Dead Rising for 2 weeks, not a single problem.
Sorry about the badluck. ; _ ;
Also, the people who say Daed Rising killed their 360s are just unfortunate. It would be complete bullshit if you couldn't play a game on a system you just paid 500 bucks for. =/ (i'm canadian)

Well don't know about Dead Rising killing 360's, but some 360's definitely kill games
In fact, when i was in town today at Gamestation some guy came in with about 3 games he'd just bought that didn't work. Looks like his 360 had scratched a big ring around them and made them unplayable. The guy in Gamestation said this is a big problem.

I got the same problem with my first 360. It first started with Dead Rising, I was escorting FOUR survivors, had very limited health and just barely made it to the warehouse. DISC READ ERROR AFTER ALL THAT TROUBLE. I had to fight off the convicts, punch my way through halls of zombies and even ended up accidentely blowing the 5th survivors head clean off with a rifle -__-
So, I returned the 360. Got a new one...which came with an extra controller, which was bundled with Project Gotham Racer, and the 360 itself was the PES6 bundle. Guess what? It was cheaper than the first 360. So I saved money in the long run. It also works perfectly aswell.
Though I swapped the HD over. So whether it will pose a problem or not I don't know. But, if it does. I'll just pick up a memory card and backup my saves. I'm almost lvl 50 in Dead Rising -_-
The reason DR malfunctions alot, is because it uses both of the 360's processers, rather than one like most other games. This causes the system to overheat pretty badly. The HD doesn't help either (one of the shoddiest products ever).PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium
