So far on Meta Critic it's at 9.7
Metacritic aggregates music, game, tv, and movie reviews from the leading critics. Only Metacritic.com uses METASCORES, which let you know at a glance how each item was reviewed.

So good - and I am very surprised to see game traiers giving it a high score in the 9 area.

Another great review here, from RPG Site - a site specialized in the role playing genre, in which I'd recommend their nice work when it comes to this niche, has given the game 95 percent in a well written review for the game.

UPDATE: Edge's review is in. A great 9

Played for 3 and a half hours so far, also very impressed. It does lean more towards action than RPG but the RPG elements are still obviously there, the whole universe feels much more alive and interactive than the first game and the combat feels a lot more fun. I love the little things you can do. I am going to buy a space hamster!

Theres two things this game has little. Cash and Eezo. If you buy a space hamster, youre losing around 7000 credits and its going to bite you in the end.

I noticed this also, but I tend to stay around a steady 190000-210000 credits, only buying small upgrades, although I couldn't say no to blowing money on fish and the Space Hamster :p and as many ship models as I could find.

EDIT: For anyone who's scanning planets for elements/minerals, is anyone having problem looking for Platinum? I've currently got 10500 Element Zero, and over 100,000 over very other element besides Platinum *blasted loads of it on upgrades but the more I upgrade on the ship the more Platinum is needed for team upgrades.*

Platinum is the most trickiest resource (other than Element Zero for me, if you find on world mostly than minor detection) out of the planets you find, but it is there. It takes some time looking.

Excellent news too, this should make the exec guys at EA happy, and Riccitello having some room to breath (I pray that man to stay on for his excellent work as CEO)

s announced that Mass Effect 2 has sold over 2 million units during launch week.

It’s an outstanding achievement [no pun intended - JC] for a game which only launched in the US on Tuesday, and today in the UK and Europe.

Already, the game’s gotten fantastic scores and a meta of 96 on 360 and 95 for PC.

“Mass Effect 2 is poised to be one of the biggest games of 2010″, said BioWare boss Ray Muyzka. “We could not be more proud of the game’s universal acclaim and early commercial success.”

                      Go. And. Buy. It.

I bought a couple of cheap ships and fish (fish died soon as I only visited the Captains Quarters twice), and in the end I was still 3 upgrades short (25+25+50K costing) for a couple of weapons. The thing is, it is absolutely crucial to get all the ships upgrades. Otherwise, depending on how you play, the game is pretty easy, as 90% of all firefights are won from behind cover. I went for the max difficulty level from my first playthrough (the last one was unavailable), and the game was challenging enough only with heavy mechs and massive storms of Husks, so the upgrades were worth it, if only to save ones nerves.

EDIT: For anyone who's scanning planets for elements/minerals, is anyone having problem looking for Platinum? Platinum is easy. Its the third one from the left, right? Depending on whether you upgrade your gear, you dont have to have a large bank of them. The problem with RPG-s is the subconscious grind-mentality which kicks in, which makes you spend 5 minutes per planet, scouting everything. Youll save a lot of time, nerves and that initiative/immersion if you just scout for the minerals/metals you need, theres an abundance of planets and Platinum isnt hard to find. I finished the game with 10K Eezo in the bank, 100K of each metals/minerals, and I surveyed about 5% of all planets, throughally, and an additional 20% to "depleted/poor" stage. At about 2/3 of the game, I stopped trying to be so throughal with surveys, and it becomes an overall better experience. Unless theres an achievement for mineral-digging, of course.

We REALLY, REALLY, REALLY need a spoiler topic, though, as its a massive game, lots of topics to cover and even such things as "weapons" should be covered up. Im glad that I ignored most of the ME2 media hype, its the first completely fresh and spoiler-free game Ive played since 2004, when I did MGS3, and the experience is that much better.

                        • Solved the Platinum issue anyway, upgraded nearly everything available now which needs it.

And while a spoiler topic is a good idea, ME2 is so open ended in what you can do and the order I'd wager everyones playing it differently so it'd only be a matter of time before someone wrecked a key part of the story for someone else yet to experience it.

EDIT: Found my first glitch in the game concerning Conrad Verner Spoiler:
