  • Assassin's Creed 2

Has anyone else picked it up yet? I'm not very far into the game so far, but it's really enjoyable. The story is told with a lot more fluidity than in AC1 and it cuts out a lot of the needless travelling between cities in favour of a more direct approach, which really tightens the narrative. It's interesting to see the evolution of your character from rich kid into merciless assassin.

As far as gameplay goes, the free running is practically identical but the assassinations are much more fun because of less fumbly controls and easier/better methods of singling out your intended target. I can't count the number of times i botched my assassination attempts in AC1 and turned it into a mass brawl with 20 guards. I've yet to have that problem in the sequel.

Anyone else been playing it? Thoughts?

I got it 11am on Friday, played it for about 9-10 hours, i'd say the free runnings a bit looser than the first, Ezio scales buildings much faster than Altair which makes chases much easier.

So far only 2 years into Ezio's story, and currently participating in the optional assassination missions which really add a different element to the gameplay.

Also found all 3 Assassin Tomb's, really have to say while i've enjoyed every bit of the game so far, the Tomb sections have offered alot of variety and i've really enjoyed the free running aspect of them.

Yea I'm really looking forward to finding all of them and Spoiler:
I also like restoring the mansion and having all the different rooms for your armor, weapons, etc. It's really impressed me way more than the first entry that's for sure. I think they also did a good job of slowly introducing more and more features to the player. I've put in around six plus hours and I'm still not even slightly tired of the game yet, as where I was bored as hell after the first 3 or so hours of AC1.

I agree, amazing game, although I have to admit the ending was pretty confusing *like the first had to look up on forums to get some of it*.

Also in reference to REmasters spoiler Spoiler:

I'd also recommend you find as many codex's you can as you play through the game or try and get all of them early on, the health boosts are worth it amongst other things.

Currently 95% complete, just need to find the feathers and one more weapon missing from my inventory, I finished the Shipyard extra mission you get for having a preordered copy of the game *I got the £42.99 version from game but had £15 discount on my GAME Reward card so it wasn't that big a deal*

Really not worth the hassle imho it was way too short, hope its not like that for anyone who actually paid out £70 on the Black Edition from play.com which had 3 bonus missions.

I have the Black Edition, but I haven't had the chance to play it overly too much, so it's good. Much like the first AC, I'm just playing it in chunks.

Unlike the First AC, I pretty much played through AC2 in 3 long sittings, I really thought they story was a massive improvement and it kept me playing till the end.

I feel like I can definently do that easier than AC1, I don't disagree, but it's just more time I have free to do so really.

Also, the figure that comes in the Black Edition kicks fucking ass. It's super detailed and huge.

I've been playing the 360 version as well, have to say i'm very impressed. This is easily tenfolds better than the first one in every aspect.

I finally beat AC2 last night after putting in almost twenty of hours, and that includes doing several side missions and unlocking Altair's armor. I've gotta say, it's probably my game of the year. The music, VA's, settings, controls and fluid story was spot on. I loved how ezio would be yelling and you could hear a hint of "Chris Redfield" in there lol. I really like that VA, I know it couldn't have been easy reciting all that italian and actually making it sound good lol. Now, time to get the rest of those damn feathers...

Lol, I didn't realise it was Chris' VA who voiced Ezio, must mean he did a good job :p

Yeah, i had no idea it was Roger Craig Smith. I thought it could possibly be Reuben Langdon because of the higher register.. Listen to Ken in SF4 and the guy who gets stomped by Ndesu in RE5 and it sounds vaguely similar to Ezio. Good work!

I love this game but I'm just about pulling my hair out about something. I've gotten every item and every achievement but the two that require all 100 feathers...I have found 99 of them

Ouch either you need a guide or you've been hit by one of the game breaking glitches i've heard about *stopping you from hitting 1000 achievement points*
