OK, so I've noticed a lot of people are bored. Can someone go into some more detail on that? From the sound of things, that actually sounds fairly good to me...I like wondering if I'm gonna run into something nasty or not as I move along.

Went back to it a second time later today, and i was bored shitless! Same again now on my third play. Very disappointed.
How long does Extraction take to finish anyone?"I've got 100 cows."

No lights show up at all. My trigger feels a little loose so I'm not sure if thats the problem or what but its pissing me off. I just want to point it at the ground so my cat can chase the lasers! Is that so bad you wanna ruin my fun?
I'm not too concerned though. I had no plans on actually displaying it or whatever...I actually wanted the collector's edition for the soundtrack.

1) The Text Logs/Audio Logs/Video Logs
You remember how Dead Space had a fair share of files scattered about the Ishimura, and some were Text, some were Audio, and occassionally you found a Video Log. Naturally, Dead Space 2 has all three, but the it seems to mainly only encompass the Text Logs. Also, in Dead Space they sort of illuminated to the story about what happened on the Ishimura, and that was good...It filled in the blanks that we as the player did not get to see. Dead Space 2 does give back story, but the logs seem to focus mainly on the person's job or something personal they have going on. That is interesting, but I want more that actually builds on the story. I don't care if the "children are becoming restless, and three were sent to the infirmary..." or "ANTI won't let me have my birds...MY BIRDS...I think I'll let them fly around today..." To me, this is boring. I want to know what happened on the Sprawl when all hell breaks lose. And maybe I'm just finding all the boring files. No one else has mentioned this, so it could just be a problem on my end.
2) Necromorphs & Necromorph Bosses
Being on the Sprawl, which is essentially a floating city, I would expect Necromorphs to pretty much be everywhere. Now, I admit that I don't want to play a game where every five seconds I'm having to kill something. That would get tedious and I would constantly be buying ammo. Maybe on "Hardcore" and "Zealot" there are more Necromorphs...I'm not sure, I haven't gotten to that point yet. The boss battles, to me, just seem really easy as well. I would expect the difficulty to progress as the game goes on, but they all seem to be about the same.
3) Walking...
The game also involves a lot of walking around, and doing puzzles...Or moving debris to clear a path for yourself. The game reminds me a lot of Resident Evil 1, but a lot more linear. In Resident Evil 1, you pretty much walk around most of the game occassionally fighting a zombie/Hunter/et cetera in the mansion. You solve a puzzle, you gain access to a new area. Dead Space 2 reminds me a lot of Resident Evil 1 in the sense of the game structure (few monsters, some down time, et cetera), and as we know, Resident Evil 1 was successful with the way it did things.
Dead Space 2 is still a really awesome game (I know it probably comes across that I don't like it, but I do). I think my problem with the game is I expected one thing from it, and am getting something completly different. I also preferred the premise of Isaac being a loner, and not really having any human contact...It made the game A LOT scarier.
And I definitely agree with Zombie Fred, the art in the game is phenomenal.
One thing that I like that they added is the crawling through the maintenance vents. THAT is actually scary because you seldomly know what you will find on the other side. Plus, the cramped feel adds a bit to your stress level.
Dead Space 2 definitely has flaws like all games, but it does make up for it in other areas. I like some of the subtle changes they've added.

Between the action segments (which are all too brief) there are rather long periods of downtime where there is nothing to engage you. Nothing that requires any thought anyway, all linear so nothing to even explore. There isn't really any wondering if something will jump out on you, encounters always end up either some introduction to an attack, be it a warning on your com or all the lights go out before, any sudden jump out of a vent or whatever never seems to happen on you but always a fair distance to you can always get your gun ready with time to aim and shoot.
Text logs are boring and not interesting, audio logs could be a lot better but are very rare and still fail to entertain. Story is predicatable too.
There are a few sections that actually break the repetition like the Zero G bit outside but these are rare exceptions only. Funny note: My Hacker Rig has parts of head and hands and such exposed, yet he still can survive space exposure...Beanovsky Durst - "They are not pervs. They are japanese."

Just finished the game, I agree with Xander Ashford about the files, I was really trying to get into them hoping for a rich backstory but it hardly mentions any story. At one part of the game I believe its chapter 10 or 11 you go some place where they really could have made some cool files. However they talk about someone is clogging the toilet? Was really disapointed with that. Missed opportunity. Did anyone else keep getting minced over and over by the first Necromorph that attacks you after you get Stasis? I shot him about 6 times and he kept slashing me and killing me with one hit. In the end I had to Stasis him Twice just to get him down.
I only jumped about 2 or 3 times whereas in Dead Space I jumped about 4 or 5 times but you have to consider Dead Space was the first in the series and it was all new. Now I'm sort of a veteran at this game so I was abit more alert. However I dont know where the compliants are coming from about lack of enemies? Someone said there was more in Dead Space 1...no chance. I got ambushed by at least 10 different kinds of Necromorphs and this happened quite regular especially towards the end. I dont remember ever being ambushed like that in Dead Space 1 and I've completed that ALOT. Infact I completed it the day before Dead Space 2's release so I could be up to date.
I also read some comments on here saying that Issac was being bossed around again being told to go here and there. Maybe at the start this is true but he does start to take control. He may volunteer to do this and that but I think thats what they meant when they said he would take charge. Would you rather run around and fix things or stand in a room and wait for the computer A.I. to play the game for you?
Overall I think its a more fun game to play than Dead Space, there are more action sequences which I think mixed it up really nice. But Dead Space was more scary and it was so original for a video game. The opening on both games where so cool and I cant really choose a better one there but I definatley think the Dead Space ending was far superior to Dead Space 2. I was really hoping for something epic and it was kind of a let down...for me anyway. Apart from that great game and going to go through it again tomorow.
Oh did anyone else find Peng very easy? It was so easy I was shocked to see it and then disapointed. It took me ages to find Peng on Dead Space.
If I had to rate this game I would give it an 8/10 which is exactly what I think of Dead Space 1. Hoping to see a number 3 in the future.

I've got to agree with CrimsonElder on some of the points above, especially with the enemy count. I found this game to have more enemies than of the first game, and even some of the new creatures (stalkers) are damn right tense and nerve wrecking, when you know you're on their turf and know that your back will be exposed for every second.
If there's something that I see as a major difference between Dead Space 1 and 2 is the feel of desperation this time around. The pacing from chapter 1 up to 9 really makes you feel like you're in an actual city and everyone around you is trying to escape while the infection is rapidly increasing. Even in Isaacs’s tone you can hear this panic inside him, as he has to struggle with this new threat around him. It’s the little details in the sprawl that makes it for me and this is why I have to say I love this one more than the first, even if the two have a different theme (which is why that will make going back to play one or two not boring because they do have a unique feel to each other).
