Personally I felt that a big draw back from the first game, for me personally, was the lack of cut scenes. Now, however, they seem to have changed it and im loving it!
no need for cutscenes in a game like this. though i wish the beginning wasn't narrated.

      • Thought the demo was pretty fun. I might give it another go in a hour or so. I'd play it right now but I'm stuck in a massive update atm.

The beginning is simply the newly released "Excavations Trailer".

            • Speaking of he Excavations trailer, it looks as though Franco from Dead Space Ignition will make an appearance in Dead Space 2.

I'm willing to bet that Franco's superior is Daina, that woman we hear from in the Dead Space 2 demo.

              • I finally managed to play it last night. It was...interesting. A little bit more action than the first game, especially the charge of the grey children, but it still felt fairly terrifying. It helped that I had trouble getting used to the PS3 controller and got myself killed. Isaac talking isn't a big issue for me, although I certainly didn't mind his silent reactions from the first game.

The only real issue I had was the child enemies. I'm never going to be fond of kids in video games as victims like this. I could just about handle the idea that the babies in the previous game were cloned flesh rather than actual kids, but since we're in the middle of a city that isn't really a choice.

                  • I watched the E3 Demo a little while ago, and since that demo runs a little futher than the released one (I think...maybe I'm forgetting this bit?) I spotted something...interesting.

                    • I always believed that the Ishimura was destroyed at some point following the destruction of Aegis VII. All I know is that it must have drifted away from the planet since by the time the USG O'Bannon arrives there, the Ishimura has gone.

                      • Nah, the Ishimura is still around. As I said, she's the subject of the latest novel, Salvage. As to whether she's still intact at the end of that, I dunno. Haven't gotten the book yet. But the Ishimura, at the very least, survived Aegis VII. Which si pretty damned scary all on it's own.

Yup. And I'm so glad that DS2 comes out a week after Mass Effect 2 so its perfectly spaced (huurrr get it? spaced? they both take place in space? HERP DERP) apart so I'll be busy with those 2 games for awhile till Killzone 3 comes out.

                            • Could it be just another planet cracker? Ishamura maybe the first but I'm doubtful it's shape is that unique.

See, I like that. I want to get both games, but it's annoying how they both come out in the same month. Then you've got Killzone 3 following not long after that in February, it's going to be a crazy couple of months.
