You wont get it today, I have preordered tons of games from Play.com and never once got it early. You ALWAYS get it on the day. They sent mine out yesterday to. My dad is a postman so even if it came in late he would have brought it home. I thought it came as well because I had 2 packets from Play but they was both Dvds I ordered last week. Use Shop2 next time, they cheaper and everytime my mates tell me they used Shop2 they have gotten it a day early. I dont know why I thought Play would do the same. Stupid of me really. Guess I learned the hard way, My mates are now playing Dead Space 2 and they saved £14. I hate you Play.

Ah, see I used Shop2 before when I preordered Killzone 2. The steelbook collector's edition too, and that arrived a day early. I was amazed that it did.

        • [QUOTE=REmaster;173608]Spoiler:

You know, I thought I was the only one that noticed that about the stomping...I thought "Well, maybe because I haven't played the first one in quite a while, I just don't remember it being like that," but no, he crushes those things into the ground.

I have to say that I've been pleased with the game so far (I think I'm in Chapter 6 or so at the moment). It definitely still has a good scare factor, but I still think the first had me jumping more.

And I HATE those new Stalker Necromorphs...They just jump out of no where half the time, and scream too much. Bah!

GAME has always done that for me, I've pre-ordered enough games to lose count and never have I not got a game the day before release or earlier, I've even got a game 4 days before release before, arriving on the Monday before Friday release.

              • Beat it today. Not really sure how I feel about it yet, as my feelings are rather mixed right now. I may type up some more detailed impressions later when I'm not tired.

I will, however, say that I think they made some of the same, or similar, mistakes that Capcom made with Resident Evil 5, ironically enough.

                • I'm on chapter 7 I think, maybe 8.

Jeez this game is boring, too much walking about doing nothing, or minor things like stamping on crap (its like 50% of the game) or using kenesis to do something trivial like slide a panel, lower a bridge, nothing fun, maybe a hack once in a blue moon but not exactly stimulating the brain with those.

Fights when they eventually happen last on average about 15 seconds, not many exceed 30 seconds and when they do it is usually from releasing the enemies slowly rather than just have then swarm you. Cannot even explore since it is all linear. Game suffers every single problem the first one did.

                  Boring.

Extraction is far better, it suffers the same 'nothing' in between short action burts except you do not need bother moving the character through the numbing boring levels, it does it for you! No needing to stamp anything either.

                  • I'm the exact opposite of you then. I'm having a blast with this game. I'm on chapter 10 and I have yet to get bored with it (unlike the first Dead Space. I hated that game until the last chapter).

                      Boring.
I definitely agree with you that the game is, at times, extremely boring. I feel like most of the game is just walking around doing miscellanious little puzzles...TK that...Freeze that. The necromorph battles definitely seem few and far between when compared to the first Dead Space. There were times in the first one where you got completly overwhelmed with Slashers, Lurkers, et cetera all coming at you at once. Here, you get about five of screaming pack children, and that's about it. I would just expect being on the Sprawl, which is essentially a floating city, that we would see A LOT more necromorph action.

Overall, I'm still really enjoying the game, but the game does have a good chunk of down time. And is it just me or are the files really not that interesting this time around? Most of them in the first Dead Space seemed to be audio files, which I prefer as you can look around AND get parts of the story. Dead Space 2 seems to be focusing a good bit on text files, which are good as they still give story, but some of them are just flat out boring. Last night I found three files about the dude who wanted his birds and the ANTI computer kept telling him no. Seriously? We needed three files on this?

                      • A bit of a weird one this.

Got back from town with it, threw it on the X-Box...and LOVED IT! The setting, the pacing, the graphics...anything i could think of was just perfect. The best opening to any game i think i've ever played. My hopes were sky high.

Went back to it a second time later today, and i was bored shitless! Same again now on my third play. Very disappointed.

                        • Does anyone else's Collector Edition Plasma Cutter work? I tried messing with it when I first opened the box. I took 2 AAA batteries out of my TV remote and put them in. It didn't work, I figured it was because they were in my TV remote. I went out today and got new batteries and still nothing. No lights show up at all. My trigger feels a little loose so I'm not sure if thats the problem or what but its pissing me off. I just want to point it at the ground so my cat can chase the lasers! Is that so bad you wanna ruin my fun?

                          • Reminds me of the BioShock collectors edition. A lot of the Big Daddy statues that came with that were broken, so they ended up sending something else out to replace it. Ironically, mine was fine...but they were also very easy to reapir, almost invisibly, with super glue.

I like the Royal Mail. They're quite good. It's the Home Delivery Network who are actually appalling. They've cocked up 3 of my orders in the past and they've even appeared on Watchdog. They also left one of my orders in the dustbin on the front, and stuck a note through my door saying "black bin". Good job the binmen weren't coming that day.

Pre-order from Game. I've never gotten a game delivered on its day of release, always a day or two early.

                              • I've been taking my time with this game and so far I can't help but praise the team's art, sound, and lighting direction they have put into Dead Space 2. These three areas have been phenomenal to experience so far and I can’t wait to find out what the rest is in store for me (currently at the end of Chapter 6).
