I know i'm months behind but I just realised the site that had the picture of the head mask is from the new castlevania.
If he had a brain, he'd be dangerous.

More details taken from the Famitsu interview

      • Mikami says that while it is a third person shooter, it is not a "normal" shooter. It will emphasize speed and fast paced action, and you will also be shooting robots instead of humans.

      • The mech suit features a high speed booster which allows you to very quickly boost next to enemies to pull off close range attacks. There are a large variety of close range attacks moves in the game.

      • There is a balance between using cover and using the boost, but it is definitely not a pure cover shooter

      • You do not pick up and change weapons in the game, instead your weaponry is part of the suit and it all transforms in realtime into different sorts of weapons.

Is PN03 any good? I've never played it, all I know is that the title flopped.

P.N. 03 is the most sexy, bullet dodging shooter of last gen.

But, yeah, it's a very like it or hate it kinda deal. A lot of people has compared it to shoot 'em ups, actually, which in many ways is a pretty curious comparison. It might be hard to see the connection, but... well... you'll just have to play it to get the feel of it, I guess.

              Spoiler:

In a near-future world where Russia and the United States vie for ownership of the world’s fast-depleting energy resources, the US has constructed a space station in order to harness energy from the sun. Russian forces capture this space station and divert its harvested solar energy into a blast wave that destroys San Francisco, aiming to force the US into a total and unconditional surrender. In response, the US tasks its armed forces with recapturing the space station before the Russians can annihilate their next target – New York.

              • Directed by Shinji Mikami, the creator of the Resident Evil series, VANQUISH™ is a sci-fi shooter that sees players take the role of Sam, a government agent kitted out with a futuristic battle suit. A versatile fighter with a huge arsenal of weaponry at his disposal, Sam also has an array of martial arts skills that he can use to take down his robot enemies.

              • Fast, fluid and frenetic – this is gaming at its most explosive and exciting, as you storm into battle.

              • Experience a game character like no other – Sam is the ultimate weapon, donning a futuristic battle suit of destructive firepower and superhuman speed and agility.

              • Fight your way through the enormous, open environments of the space station. The most advanced, futuristic city in the skies becomes home to the action.
Can a mod rename the thread to "Vanquish - the new Shinji Mikami game"? Or something like that.

Renamed thread title (maybe I'll remove/rewrite the last bit once we know more!)

Wow, those screenshots look INCREDIBLE!!! I can't wait to see this game in motion. The PS3 being the lead SKU is also a good thing. That means no holding back. . .or so we hope anyways. Who knows--this might be the game that really helps to put Platinum Games on the map as a real powerhouse developer. Madworld flopped, but Bayonetta has broken over 1 million units, but this could certainly be their real killer IP.

                  Only time will tell.

Platinum Developing Vanquish on PS3 and 360; PS3 Lead SKU

Sega and Platinum Games held a press event in Tokyo last week to show their shooter Vanquish for the first time, and when we arrived we noticed something unexpected: the game was running on PlayStation 3.

Given Platinum's history with their last PS3/360 title Bayonetta -- where they developed the 360 version internally and Sega ported it to PS3, resulting in a lower quality game on PS3 -- this struck me as a good sign. A few interview questions later, and I can say officially that they are developing Vanquish on both platforms in-house, with the PS3 version as the lead SKU.

"We're leading development on PS3," said Vanquish director Shinji Mikami. "Obviously each console has its own unique requirements and limitations, but we feel if we can create a good enough presentation on PS3, we'll be off to a good start."

Mikami also mentioned that development started on PC, but shifted to PS3 early on. When asked about a PC release, he clarified that, "Any sort of possible PC version is undecided at this point -- the main idea right now is 360 and PS3."

No multiplayer for Vanquish, says Mikami

“Vanquish is very intense, full of action. There are just so many things going on,” said Mikami.

“When you take that into a multiplayer environment, then you have to realistically consider shaving a lot of things off and putting them into your multiplayer environment.”

He further added: “It kind of boils down to whether you have the multiplayer but you don’t have that much impact, and end up being like everyone else. Or even below par.

“So that’s the main reason we’re keeping Vanquish as a single-player experience – to deliver the level of impact, the level of detail and the visuals we want to offer.”

On PS3 topic: if that's the case, then maybe I'll have a Platinum game on my PS3.

Shinji Mikami announces KRIEG for PS3?

                                Mikami is a busy man.

A surprising scan from this week’s Famitsu seems to have leaked early. In it, Shinji Mikami’s new studio Tango announces their first game – a PlayStation 3 title named KRIEG with the same free-roaming aspect of Fallout, including that similar mix of role-playing game elements.

If true, this is most likely the project Shinji Mikami was counting down to on his studios’ official site.

According to Mikami, he chose the name KRIEG because it means “war, conflict, and confrontation.” The game is set on a land devastated by nature. The protagonist is a boy subjected to strange military experiments, however, he cannot recall where he was tested on and is searching for clues to find out. The game’s back-story will be shown in the form of comics and anime.

Originally, Mikami expected to make this title for Wii, but confessed he had to choose PlayStation 3.

“This game will be my personal challenge,” Mikami closed the Famitsu reveal, “new information will arrive during the next E3.”
