  • dark forces 2 problems

i recently purchased the jedi knight series from steam and i have had no problems with the original dark forces but i cannot run dark forces 2, the first tihng was the FMVs ran fine but the graphics were shit, they were all kinds of rainbow colors then they started blurring and now the game is unavailable. was it pulled and if it was can we get a refund?

If it's using DOSBox, try running the game in a window (Alt + Enter). I had a similar problem with the first Dark Forces on Steam running full screen, but when I switched the game to a window, it worked perfectly.

What's the OS system you running on? Have you tried running it in other capabilities in the properties? Any custom updates/patches (fan more or official) online to solve the problem? Google your problem and that could help you if any others had the same problem, you might be lucky to see them having the solution already. Could be numerous things but the best bet is trying the former stuff first and see if that helps. If not, look up for similar problems, hopefully that will help you out.

Try a newer version of DosBox. Can be a hassle, but it can work. I havent had time to try Jedi Knight yet, although I bought the set myself

thats the thing, i can never get dosbox to run myself, the copy of dark forces included runs its own internal dosbox but jedi knight has no dosbox and i think this is one of those it will work on a 7 pc only if you do something i na certain day month or year

Download that, and drop the .dll file included into your Jedi Knight folder (Program Files>Steam>Steamapps>Common>Star Wars Jedi Knight). Once it's in there, go into the game, and in the display options of the menu, make sure you have 3D acceleration enabled.

Once you've done all that, it should work. At least, it did for me and I was having the same trouble as you.

If it's saying that it is unavailable, try running Steam as the administrator.

Same for me, but I've seen the "Game Unavailable" thing before, and running Steam as admin usually can solve it.
