  • Fallout 3

I'm totally late with this topic but after a year of debating i finally went ahead and bought fallout 3.
I gotta say, i'm impressed. It's an amazing game, best i've played in a long long time i'd say. It gets a bit repetetive at times but the landscapes and details are unreal.
I'm not all that far through the game yet, i've spent most of my time exploring the world map and doing small side quests before i continue with the main storyline.
The most annoying part is becoming overcumbered, i'm an absolute hoarder so it keeps happening all the time, i should learn.
But so far i've had an immense time activating an atomic bomb to wipe a town out, unleashing hordes of feral ghouls upon an unsuspecting hotel, oh the joys, i cant to see what else i can accomplish.

So you chose the dark side, huh?

Yeah, I couldn't bring myself to do those things. At least on my first character.

Yeah, it really is an amazing game. Did you buy it for PC? That version has more re playability with mods and whatnot compared to the console version. Either one is fine, though.

LOL. I'm more inclined to be a good guy. I did let the ghouls ravage the hotel though... Those elitist bastards needed a lession .

The expansions add a lot really, i'm doing the Broken Steel missions right now. Me likes.

does whether you choose to be good or bad affect the ending or anything?

I guess it does, and if you have Broken Steel you can make more choices that alter the ending. I really want to start a female evil character LOL; to experience the game from the other side, ravaging, killing, lying, cheating and stealing!

being good is always more rewarding than being bad it seems. which is stupid. why even have bad if its not as rewarding in the end, eventually you'll have to do something good anyways, so having a purist for evil isn't gonna do you well.

Fallout 3 is a pretty good game, but too over the top for Fallout, and for me. I was impressed with it at first too, but the "throw everything that sounds cool" design choices left much to be desired, and lacked coherence. Eventually, the game becomes a madhouse. But if you dig it, you should totally check out the first game in the series. Greatest computer RPG of all time IMO.

i'm totally stuck to trying to get dr li to the citadel, i have like zero ammo and there's two guards halfway through the tunnels on a balcony that she just won't run past

And everyone called me *crazy* back when the game was released when I maxed out my melee skills. Oh well, if you don't have any kind of usable ranged weapon (and there are none to be found in dead enemies and etc), really, I can't think of another alternative other than backtracking to find some kind of melee weapon (maybe you can find a sledgehammer or something, not sure), get ready to quicksave and load a lot and pray to God it works.

oh i have plenty of melee weapons, there's just no access to the balcony the two guards are on shooting down at us.
they have to be taken out by firearms, it's such a pain

Hmm that is after the room where lots of Enclave attack while Dr Li unlocks a door right? Must be a laser rifle or something with ammo you can use from that room. Alternatively tell her to wait and then run ahead and you'll eventually find a Brotherhood of steel member with (I think) ammo boxes behind him.

What are you doing that causes you to have no ammo? "I'm an absolute hoarder" you said.

Melee skills or weapons will not help him, they are too high up and cannot not fall down, neither do they run down to in any way.

I'm actually playing it right now. In my experience scavenge EVERY dead body, locker and ammo crate. That way you won't end without ammo. Also cigarrettes are your best friends. Sell the cartons/packs to vendors in exchange for ammo.

                              Spoiler:

I love fallout 3. Completed it being good, evil and neutral. Though the glitches can sometimes get annoying. I've played fallout 1 and it is good but the turn based controls kind of put me off playing it more.
