I think i'm inclined to agree with that, considering i spent so much time in VATS. I just find it really difficult to hit anything any other way!

You want dogmeat? head to the scrapyard thats near the minefields, there's a dog being attacked by three raiders, get rid of them and the dogs yours. Be warned though he doesnt last long, he's meant to be a good companion but without the puppies perk from the dlc he's useless, ends up dead pretty quickly.

I like V.A.T.S, if only for the old school feel of it from the older games. If only they hadn't taken the option to shoot people in the balls.

"Female Raider was hit in the groin for critical damage. She took it like a man. She screamed."

Oh Fallout, you so crazy. So looking forward to New Vegas. So many members of the old Black Isle team there. It was one of the reasons Fallout 3 was, for me, the worst of the three...it lacked the same sense of warped humour the older games did. Nothing quite like running into Sir Arthur of the Brotherhood of Steel, searching for the Holy Hand Grenade.

It may just be me...but I found it too easy to be an evil character. Killing innocents and robbing them was just too...simple. I was always hard pressed not to steal. I still have yet to beat the game with evil karma.

And Darkmoon...you're right. The previous Fallout games did have a lot more humor. I think it was in Fallout 2...but outside one of the strip clubs in one of the games there is a guy using a similar, although heavily censored, advert that Cheech Marin used for the Titty Twister in From Dusk til Dawn

Yeah, that's in 2. In Reno. Great place to get laid and take vast amounts of drugs before becomming a made man of the local crime lords and knocking up one of there daughters.

...yes, you can do all that.

Was gonna give this a shot tomorrow...but just before i turned the game off i found out you can only have one follower at a time after buying Charon's contract...but like fuck i'm gonna get rid of Fawkes <3 haha

I'm so totally obsessed with this game right now.

                Spoiler:

Gotta love the green bastard. I've been tempted by using another sidekick, but damn, Fawkes practically plays the game for me! When I did Broken Steel's missions, he was all Rambo style killing everyone with his gattling laser. I missed him on Operation Anchorage however... stupid battle simulations .

Have completed the main storyline (well, up until before the DLC came out), a bunch of side quests here and there, and have just landed on Point Lookout before i turned the machine off. Such an incredible game, so expansive! Also playing it "properly" now too which makes me think my first playthrough was just a complete waste of time.

                  Question though...where's the dog?!

I'm always hearing people talk about their pet dog in Fallout 3, and i've not had a glimpse of it in my first playthrough, or now on my second? I do have Fawkes, who is nothing short of fucking incredible...but no dog? Can anyone explain?

But yeah, i'm totally in love with this game, just amazing to think i've only really scratched the surface with all the side quests and DLC i have yet to start! We're talking best game ever territory at the moment...though the last game i said that about was Alone In The Dark before it was released, so we'll see yet!
the Dog is good to have at lower levels when you have no other NPC following you, but i consider him worthless later on, considering he can get killed easier from stronger enemies especially if you have Broken Steel installed. i make him stay in the house now.

42 hours in and still in love.

Just played the first part of the Operation Anchorage DLC, so good! I remember it getting a lot of abuse when it was released because it was such a departure from what had made Fallout 3 so good, but i thought it was a brilliant change in pace!

I loved operation anchorage but it was just far too easy and the routes were very structured but i still enjoyed it a lot.
You can still have a companion whilst having dogmeat with you but if you want to keep him alive i suggest you get him aftter getting broken steel so that you get the puppies perk.

This game consumed my life for so long but I still have to do most the dlc but to be honest im scared of playing agaian incase i lose another couple of months of my life lol.

Oh and somehow ive managed to have two companions and dogmeat with me on the ps3 version (fawkes, charon and dogmeat) I heard most people can only have one companion and dogmeat at any one time is this right?

everything you need to know about fallout is on here www.fallout.wikia.com (im just gutted i found it after i completed the main story!)

I'm on the final quest of the game, i've done everything, i don't want it to end completely with nothing left to do in the wasteland
