Well, we differ a lot here. I always liked Greek mythology, the Gods, the Titans, the stories of Hercules, Perseus, Achilles, Odysseus, the Cyclops, et cetera. In middle school I was kind of obsessed with Poseidon and his Trident, and would constantly draw pictures of him and the Hydra and Horses and shit like that. I can't wait to watch Kratos murder him in God of War III.

Something I'm really looking forward to: fast-forward to 9:04 in this video -- http://www.gametrailers.com/episode/...v/85?ch=2&sd=1
    FIRST-PERSON DEATHS.

I like greek mythology AND hell stuff. I'm a little more excited about Diablo III than GoW 3 but I am looking forward to both. ^^

Its more about there being a longer wait for Diablo 3 then for GoW 3 I think. But like I said. Looking forward to both!

Well, you'll be happy to know that Kratos will be visiting hell again for the third time in three games in GoW3.

Honestly? I need a good reason to play most action games, because as a rule they just aren't something I enjoy. I tried God of War because of my love of history, but it wasn't what I hoped. Between the plot being meh for me the level of violence put me off...I can only play adult games in the evening, when my kids are asleep. I have a lot of things to do in the evening though...horror games, movies, adult TV shows and other things I can't do with the kids around. So I dropped it and traded it in for something else.

If action games aren't for you, then I don't know what to say...I just feel like Action/Hack-N-Slash is one of the easiest 'pick up and play' genres there is, and to me, God of War is the pinnacle of the genre. I'd say you should really give the first two another chance, but if it's not for you, then whatever, dogg.
It's always possible, I suppose. I could borrow it off Alexia once I've managed to clear more of the back log of random crap I want to play. Heavy Rain again and again, of course.

GoW III game of the millennium???!!!! ROFL LOL!!! There are much better games - Uncharted 2 or Heavy Rain, etc...
GoW III can be a good game, but nothing more. IMO

I wonder out loud if most of the board doesn't own a PS3 or they simply haven't played the first two? The latter confuses me since the original two games were two of the highest-acclaimed games on the most successful console of last generation.
I dont get the surprise and confusion. The audience of this board has ignored a hell of a lot more popular games, embraced others while ignoring its obvious flaws. Theres not enough people here to have a fanbase around every franchise, every platform or every big game.

I really wouldn't call GOW III game of the millenium, especially when there's franchises out there now like Mass Effect. Now, I'm a fan of GOW and have been since the first game, and have always bought the games as soon as they've come out. I also have the re-mastered collector's Edition version with both games in one and will definitely be getting GOW III. I just can't say it's the game of the millenium for me. Given, it's one of the main reasons I bought a PS3 last year, but at the end of the day, it's a really good hack 'n' slash game for me with a good plot, and a lot of Greek mythology (which I am very into). Not much more than that for me. There's a lot of other games I'm more looking forward to. (Fable III, Starcraft 2, Pokemon SS, Mass Effect 3).

Saying that, I'm not that big on the hack 'n' slash genre. If I had to choose, I'd pick DMC over GOW because quite simply, I prefer the story. RPGs are my favourite type of game and ones which I sink more of my time into, so naturally I'll prefer them over GOW3.

Well, I guess it depends, really. I've always considered the GoW series to be one of the biggest, most popular and highly-acclaimed series out there, even to the casual gamer. I figured when I made this thread it would be a big friggin' deal because pretty much every other gaming board I post on, people are crapping their pants about this game.

I always thought of it as the flagship series for the PS2, and because of this, one of Sony's true salvos for the PS3. Apparently I was wrong.

                    • The demo was enough to land this game firmly on my radar, will definitely pick up the enhanced first two games as well.

No no, "ROFL LOL!!!" at judging a game without having played it to completion.

the GT series are more of the "Flag ship" for Sony due to how much that crazy bastard wants them to be perfect. not only are they critically acclaimed, but the were also had one game that was the top selling exclusive for each PlayStation console (except i don't think that will be said for GT PSP unless it ends up selling a lot more than i would expect).

God of War will end up like Spyro or Crash Bandicoot in which its popularity will remain big by word of mouth, but its fanbase will remain low to those who actually plays all them, no just by one, or the final one in the series. Unless God of War pulls a Twisted Metal and Sony does not release a game for another 5-10 years.

                        • You bring up a good point with Gran Turismo. I myself never played one but I know it's a huge franchise for Sony...but I guess it's easy to forget about it when GT5 continues to get delayed over and over again. Racing games appeal to a very wide audience, but I guess I'm like Darkmoon in that racing is just not a genre for me. Really don't care too much for them.

hahahaha someone buy this guy a clue.

God Of War 3 will be one of the biggest selling games on any console this year, not be word of mouth either, and nor will that change for a long time to come...if ever.

                              • Just the thought of God of War being compared to Spyro or Crash is hilarious. God Of War is one of Sony's biggest titles right now, and there's absolutely nothing in the run up to the third game's release to suggest that will cease to be the case for a looooong time to come.
