The day of reckoning is nearly upon us.
"The Gods of Olympus have abandoned me. Now there is no hope."
I'll be picking the game up tomorrow.
"God of war...I haven't forgotten you! For what you did that night, this city will be your grave..."
I have one class in the morning, but I'll be picking the game up right afterwards and playing it all day.
"That night...I was trying to make you a good warrior!"
"...you succeeded."
Needless to say, I'm pretty damn excited.
"Don't forget that it was I who made you a God, Ghost of Sparta! Don't turn your back on me!"
"I owe you nothing!"
The wait is nearly over.
"If all those on Olympus would deny me my vengeance, then all on Olympus will die."
CHAOS WILL RISE AGAIN.
Spoiler:
K, I'm done now.Last edited by Vector; 03-15-2010, 06:03 PM.

I'm just under 3 hours in, and yeah...this game is amazing.
Spoiler:
It's the same old tried and true God of War formula, but this is not just GoWII with a new paint job. It's a completely new experience. The combat feels more fluid and exact than ever, and the addition of grappling is extremely welcomed. Everything about this game so far has been unbelievably epic. The boss fights within the first 15 minutes were amazing...battling the Leviathans and then the INCREDIBLE-looking Poseidon battle was absolutely insane.
I just got out of Hades a while ago, and I'm just starting to get used to the Claws of Hades. Pretty awesome weapon so far. Hades kicked the shit out of me for a good 20 minutes(I'm playing on Titan mode), but I finally figured him out and defeated him with literally nothing left on my life bar. I dunno how the hell I survived it, but I did.
I just stopped at the part that's right in the middle of the demo, right before the Chimera battle(Lion/goat/snake monster) and I'm just taking a break right now, coming up for some air before I jump back into the game in a little while. I'm really loving it so far.
I also got this pretty cool poster from GameStop for preordering:

Shitty pic quality, from my phone's camera.Last edited by Vector; 03-16-2010, 06:17 PM.

I have to say, I think this takes the graphics crown from Uncharted 2. They're two completely different games, visually, but Kratos looks unbelievable. One of the most real-looking characters I've ever seen in a video game. Not only that, but the framerate has been, for the most part, flawless. Very few slowdowns. Not too many jaggies, zero screen-tearing, and the scale of the game is completely unmatched.
Spoiler:
Running up Gaia's arm while the other Titans were climbing Olympus in the background...a m a z i n g.

For some reason the release here is tomorrow (Thursday), although I know the game is in stores already (was called saying my game was there and can be picked up first thing tomorrow morning).
I'm getting the PAL collectors set in the Pandora's Box with the collection thrown in. I'll take photos when I can of the set (unless someone gets the US edition of it and beats me to it).

About 6 hours in, and I sense the end is near.
Spoiler:
I was surprisingly happy with how Hermes was dealt with. Brilliant idea to have that little mini chase scene, and then the awesome finish with Kratos slicing off his legs and taking his boots...violently spectacular.
Killing Hercules might be the most violent and brutal death I've seen in the series. Incredibly awesome. The start of the fight was annoying with how the other enemies would be running around and messing up my combos, but once I stripped all the armor off of him, it was an awesome, awesome battle.
The Aphrodite bit was expected, but still pretty awesome. Can't say that was just a 'throw-in' sex scene because that's what she was known for...banging. In Greek Mythology, she created a rift in the Gods by cheating on her husband Hephaestus with Ares, and I'm glad they referenced that.
Oh, and how can I forget Cronos? That. Was. Awesome. A mortal man killing a Titan is pretty unbelievable, but...nah, it's Kratos. And it was epic.
I also like how they personified Hera. I can't say I ever thought of her as a drunken old woman, but she seems spot-on.Last edited by Vector; 03-17-2010, 12:04 AM.

The game does have the cleanest IQ ever for a console game, and the AA only breaks up in edges in far distances. Here's hoping they make it a standard with SDK's from now on. The 5.1 mix blows the like of U2 and Batman AA out of the water too.
Anyway, it took me about 9.5 hours or so and it's without a doubt the most balanced game in the series. It just feels sooo good to play a game with actual puzzles with the right amount of platforming, action and memorable boss fights. I'm certainly gunning for a platinum in this one.

I'm just over 9 hours in now, definitely getting close to the end.
Spoiler:
That whole mini-escort part with Pandora was completely unexpected. Right now I'm in Hades, releasing the Kings from the chain as Pandora waits on top of the Labyrinth above.
Just checked my stats, I've died 119 times. Yeah. That's a lot. This game is definitely a big-time challenge on Titan mode. The toughest enemies in the game are those Ram-people with the long staffs with a blade on each end. That Cerberus mini-boss fight was a big-time pain in the ass with the two of the Ram-people messing me up when I was trying to take down the Cerberus...probably died over 20 times. The boss battles have definitely kicked my ass more than anything...they're all about trial and error. Hades, Hercules, the Scorpion and the Cerberus have probably killed me a good 60-70 times combined.
I'm absolutely loving the game, though. Kratos has gotten more fleshing out as a character in this game than he did in the first two games combined. This whole Pandora ordeal is extremely interesting...it's an interesting dynamic to see how he relates to having a child around, considering how he was tricked into murdering his own daughter. I also loved this little exchange:
Pandora: "He said he would hurt me like he hurt my father!"
Kratos: "He wont."
Pandora: "He said he was going to kill you!"
Kratos: "...he can't."
Taking a break for now, then probably gonna finish it up later tonight. Can't wait for the Zeus battle.

Holy moly.... the Pandora's Box collectors edition is frickin huge & exceptionally detailed. I picked it up on the way to work today. No pictures yet as I am still at work currently, but I'll take photos sometime this evening or tomorrow morning.
I almost don't want to open it, except for the fact that I want to play the games inside.
