  • L.A Noire

Published by Rockstar games and developed by Team Bondi, L.A Noire is an interactive detective story set in the classic noir period of the late 1940's.

L.A. Noire blends action, detection and complex storytelling and draws players into an open-ended challenge to solve a series of gruesome murders. Set in a perfectly recreated Los Angeles before freeways, with a post-war backdrop of corruption, drugs and jazz, L.A. Noire will truly blend cinema and gaming.

At one point the game was a PS3 exclusive but it's coming out for 360 as well.

              More Details

              • L.a Noire is NOT a “Gta1947, Mafia II” game, there isn’t a game like this in the industry so you can’t compare it.
              • The game does include a lot of actions, car chases and shoot outs.
              • Instead of taking out your gun, you will take out your notepad.
              • In a conversation with another person you have to see trough them to check out if they are telling the truth, thanks to the ‘revolutionary’ facial animation system this is one of the biggest things in the game.
              • You can inspect houses of suspects and check everything out, from mirrors to steel pipes, all kinds of objects.
              • The crime scenes are based of real Los Angeles crime scenes back in 1947.
              • You’ll have to work your way up in a world full of lies, corruption and hidden agenda’s.
              • The world is a authentic 40’s Los Angeles and everything in the world seems ‘right’ nothing will hold you back to experience Los Angeles in 1947 tot the fullest.
              • Core of the game: “Lone guy against the world fighting the good fight”
              • Rockstar ends with: “There is a enough mediocre crap in the industry, we want to try something different”

                  I'd rather have another Bully...

Though I must admit that LA Noire looks interesting enough, even if it reminds me too much of Heavy Rain.

sounds like heavy rain with no qte and full of action instead. its too bad this game isn't in black in white. many players today won't appreciate anything colorless, but that's what gives its natural vibe in my opinion.

Sounds a bit like Still Life in its game play, no chases in that though.

Sounds vaguely promising. I'm usually not too impressed with Rockstar stuff, but this one might be worth checking out.

The Saboteur featured sections of occupied France that were in black and white, and as you progressed and took out the Nazis color would return. I enjoyed the noir feel of the areas under occupation, and actually would like this game to feature something similar.

I'm thoroughly interested in seeing how this will be once the game is released. I love early modern settings for movies and games so hopefully it'll be worth a buy.

But wouldn't that take away the immersion that you're in Los Angeles in the 1940s? Seriously, the amount of research and development that went into recreating LA at the time is astonishing and they'd be damned if they're gonna showcase every asset and color available at the time. Defeating an army doesn't adequate the same for random acts of crime which you, the crime-solving player, have to deal with it's aftermaths so I'm not understanding why the Saboteur was brought up. But apparently people can't appreciate painstakingly recreated levels/people/atmosphere/mechanics/etc. and rather just have developers directly take away other games' ideas (specifically different publishing families) then just having developers do what they want and craft their own ideas.
