  • Opinion on Music games

What's your opinion on Music games, Rockband, Guitar hero, any other thing.

Honestly I think they do a well good job at spreading music to teens and young kids but Sadly I think it does it by making them overrated...I can't even listen to Dream Theater with out some one mentioning their high school on Panic Attack or Pull Me under

I can play the guitar on expert. I love GH and Rock Band.

Sort of... Many kids think that because they can push some frets to the beat that makes them the best guitarist around which absolutely has nothing to do with the real thing. I think that music games are getting out of control, we get a release every 3 months or less, that's too darn much.

I agree too. To many people play Guitar hero and pick a guitar the next month and think they're gonna shred it the fuck up And true to the releasing of every other month lol

I suck at these kinds of games. I only played a guitar hero game a couple times with a friend, and the only thing I'm remotely good at is the drums on easy!

I can't drum on expert or sing. The Drums are to stupid...

I'd never buy one of these games - I'm trying to learn real guitar, and don't see much point in investing in a copy, that said, I've found playing them socially pretty fun.

And Elite Beat Agents is pretty awesome, but mostly for the humour. (When you strip back the gameplay it's pretty simplistic).

They are fun for a while, or if you're at a party with friends. Otherwise they're rather lame. And anyone who says they can play guitar better because of a Guitar Hero/Rock Band game is an idiot. Guitar doesn't work that way.

Well, the benefit from a lot of music games is that you get a better understanding of things such as rhythm, timing, and composition. So it's not entirely worthless, as far as learning to play music on an actual instrument goes.

Anyway, I kinda like music games, but I really do feel it's a marked that right now... not exactly overstayed its welcome... it's just that they suddenly invited all their friends to a relatively closed party. (Seriously, I've long since lost track of how many *Hero releases there are now, and even something as "trendy" and "innocent" as "SentUAMessage" cracked jokes about how it was the fan's fault that we're getting Rock Band: Green Day)

So far, LIPS seems to've been the only one of the newcomers that hasn't spammed the marked with countless re-releases and alternate versions. (Although it seems to be working fulltime now on catching up with SingStar... man... I gotta order Deutsche Partyknaller.)

While I have to admit I have fun playing Guitar Hero at my friend's house, it's never something I'd want to spend money on.

Rhythm/timing games such as PaRappa and Gitaroo Man I have fond memories of though.

DDR effectively makes up 75% of my overall physical activity.

Well honestly, DDR is a great way to exercise. It's no different than watching an exercise video.
