We have a winner. Music games, played correctly, have the ability or potential to greatly improve rhythm. I know I have learned tons of timing things playing the games that I just don't see playing lower brass instruments, which makes my already-sharp timing that much better. And when strange stuff does pop up, it's that much easier.

How eloquent. If anything in the gaming world is cancerous, it is the FPS. It seems like 80%+ of games anymore are nothing but shooters. All of which have very little to differentiate them.

Very well said. As an average (real) guitar player, I can appreciate that much from these types of games, even though I have to laugh at how many people with a knack for Guitar Hero think they'll have no problem "shredding" on a real instrument.

I do agree that the market is heavily saturated right now with music games (+ peripherals) which is a bit annoying, but I can see why they have sold well as the items do make for some decent fun with friends/family over.

And nothing beats some drinking and singing at Shidax, only to stop by the arcade while shambling home and playing some Taiko No Tatsujin. (My first music-related gaming experience from years ago when I taught English in Japan.)

You know me by now, as subtle as a brick to the small of the back.

That just sums up music games perfectly for me though.

I pretty much accept i'm in the minority for my dislike of the genre, but i just think they're so tiresome...admittedly, like people will do for FPS', or yearly sporting franchise updates.

edit: BLAME MUSIC GAMES FOR THIS!!!1!11
