PS3 Recommendations

So there's a pretty high chance that I'm getting a PS3 for my 18th birthday next month and I was wondering what the best games to buy would be. The first things that sprung to my mind were the Uncharted games, God Of War 3, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Little Big Planet but I was wondering if there were any other games you guys would recommend.

I'd recommend Uncharted 1 and 2 at the highest on the software side from Sony. Heavy Rain also when it comes out later this month. Metal Gear Solid 4 is not a bad movie game, if you are a fan of the series. Valkyria Chronicles should be cheap, if you are looking for a interesting real time strategy/role-playing game, from the Sega team who developed Skies of Arcadia. Some of the games I would recommend for the PS3.

God of War Collection, catch up on GoW and GoW2 before THE END BEGINS on March 16th.
Resistance and Resistance 2 are worth playthroughs...
inFamous is also a pretty good PS3 exclusive.

Yeah, Heavy Rain looks pretty interesting but I think I'll see what the reviews say about it first.

I've played Resistance 2 and I liked it so I may check those games out.

I'm not too interested in Infamous and I already have Batman on the 360.

The first two God Of War games are being ported to the PS3 aren't they? I've always wanted to play them but never actually been able to buy them so it's a series I'm definitely going to buy.

Me and Emma have the God Of War 1+2 HD set for the PS3. We imported it over America so you should be able to find it somewhere online

That's what God of War Collection is. The first two games on one blu-ray disc with re-mastered graphics. It's awesome.

Valkyria Chronicles is awesome, but not easy to find in the UK. Apparently we got a relatively low number of discs.

Heavy Rain is something that should be a legal requirement.

Namco Essentials and Sonic's Sega collection were good too when I played the demo. That is if you like the classics. Turok is a good fps game imo, although it does not have much of a storyline, it has great online play. Of course, it goes without saying, you also should get RE5 if you don't have it. The demo looked great. btw what size are you getting? I got the 40 GB.

There's one there for 25 quid, and it also includes the GOW3 demo (which mine didn't have), and it's from a British seller. I imported the GOW collection in November.

I thought the GoW 1 and 2 were ported and included with the GoW 3 UK collectors edition?
Thats what I heard, anywho.

I've not heard that. They're not ports, they've been upgraded to 720p, added trophy support to the two originals and they're on a blu ray disc.

I've not heard of the Remakes being sold in retail stores out of the US.
