What motion controls did Nintendo have prior to Sony's Eye Toy?

Also, the Neo Geo was the first console to use memory cards if i remember correctly.

Not to mention arcade systems were using rumble LONG before Nintendo.

Still N64 was the first home console to use rumble.

Oh yeah not disputing that, just pointing out it's far from Nintendo's idea.

The only arguable "improvement" I see in the tech is "It's on the PS3."

Anyway, the hands on stuff I've seen of it didn't exactly wow me in any way. What little I viewed of the Socom stuff seemed kinda stiff (in lack of a better way to describe it) and all the other games seemed to be so broken that even Sony was well aware of it (since they kept reminding everyone it was still pre-alpha). How can it still be pre-alpha? I was under the impression that most of this stuff's been in the works for quite some time.

On the other hand, I'm not exactly excited about the somewhat recent news on the Natal front either. The part about the dedicated hardware being thrown out in favor of a pure software solution, that is. A software solution just doesn't seem right to me, 'cause the dedicated hardware is pretty much what they could've easily 1-upped both of the other two alternatives on the tech front with.

Resident Evil 5 will effectively become Resident Evil 5: Wii Edition.

So i'm sold. If it brings similar controls to other titles, then great.

Come on guys, it's not like you can invent new human limbs. Of course at some point inventions are going to cap out.

Further development of technology like this disagrees.

Wii Vitality Sensor, I don't like the idea of having my finger stuck into something whilst i'm playing that'll also dig into my nail.

Splitfish already ripped the Wii Remote as well.
Now to get me a ps3 boomerang :-)

                        I kinda hope the vitality sensor changes design too. The idea is pretty awesome, but I hope there are at least two changes to it;

                        1. Pass-through connector (so that other controllers/add-ons may be used along with it... other than Motion+)

                        2. a comfort redesign (its current design might limit what you could use it for. I suppose it will "clip" like the hospital equivalent does... but it'll still kinda get in the way if you're not to just sit there and have your hand on the table all day long.)

                        Guess we'll know at E3 ... I hope (+maybe see some games?)

A survival horror game would work FANTASTIC with the vitality sensor, the problem here is, as you have said, that the current design would limit the gameplay mechanics + controls...

On PS3 topic, while the idea of motion control is not new, there are good posibilites with this tech, as long as developers don't get lazy and just do shovelware minigames like most Wii games.

I saw on IGN an interview with Cliffy B talking about motion controllers (and some obvious Natal advertising LOL) and he said that he would like to see a mixed use of controllers where one player plays the game with a traditional controller while the other uses "casual" motion controller, which IMO sounds like a good idea if its used the right way.

If people can be lazy and still turn a profit... chances are that most people will know no shame and roll with it!

Anything that became popular.

I have all three (systems), and I think I'll be just fine with the Wii's motion controls. The PS Move is just a cheap imitation of the Wiimote/WM+, Sony can't help but steal popular stuff from Nintendo. So fuck that.
that's one thing i still cannot stand about the Wii is that you HAVE to play with motion controls, unlike the other competitors that don't necessarily rely on it. i so can't wait for this generation to be over. maybe we'll go back to actual video games instead of relying on stupid shit like motion controls or even 3D tech. one thing for sure though, is that i'm not ever buying a console when it first comes out. i'll wait at least a year even up to three before i get my hands on a new console.
