  • Call of Duty: Black Ops

    Official site: http://www.callofduty.com/blackops/home/agegate

I didn't want to make a thread for this game, seeing as there's gonna be a new COD game every single year...but the viral marketing for it is some of the coolest shit I've ever seen. Some real JJ Abrams-type shit.

    Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0n0QKGKQCc
    IGN trailer breakdown: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=292tCSCvFQY

Remember that random teaser site that was discovered about a month ago, www.GKNOVA6.com? Many thought it would be for Fallout: New Vegas or something like that...but people have been cracking codes feverishly for the last month or so. Check out the site, click the buttons on the TV, listen to the creepy sounds and spellings, soak it all in...and then check this out: http://callofduty.wikia.com/wiki/GKNOVA6. Some pretty amazing shit, if you ask me.

Let's just hope the game itself is equally cool. Odds are, we'll see a lot more at E3.

It's quite funny they were originally just Activision's work horse, always copying and pasting until the backlash that was MW2. Instead of taking the usual historical route, seems TY is trying to make something much more then that. Sure it might seem a little coincidence that they're competing with the Medal of Honor reboot but I dare not if I'd say that 1) we actually are going to route for the underdog despite following behind IW's footsteps and the fact they are supported by Activision and 2) perhaps this game will finally bring Treyarch back to superior status and respect they so once had by showing IW what they can actually do with the franchise then just "copy and paste".

So IT WAS CoD! I I loved this viral thingy, from the start the mystery usb flash drives, the cypher codes, the tv set... Kudos to Activision's Marketing/Advertising!

We'd heard the rumors for months that the next Treyarch Call of Duty game would be the studio's first outside of World War II, but when the Black Ops teaser trailer launched last week, it was difficult to tell exactly when and where the game would take place. Last night, Treyarch head Mark Lamia finally made it official: Black Ops takes place during the Cold War and a sizable chunk of the action is in Vietnam.

In an interview with USA Today, Lamia revealed the game will include a co-op mode for two to four players and said the campaign's story will tell the tale of the "hot war" that took place between the United States and the U.S.S.R. out of the public eye during the Cold War.

EDIT: And here's the actual USA Today article: http://www.usatoday.com/life/lifesty...terstitialskip

          Full reveal trailer:

Looks like they're not trying to be 'historically accurate' with this game. By saying "all you know are lies," they're basically saying "we're gonna do whatever the fuck we want with the Cold War and what happened in Vietnam." It could end up being really cool. One thing that's a fact...it's gonna be ridiculous and over-the-top.

For a few good men, they sure make World War 2 look like a tamed lion.

Is it just me or do the graphics look terrible?

Yes, they don't look very good (aliasing, low texture resolution) but I thought that's how MW2 looked on consoles anyway?

Keeping with the Treyarch theme, retailers have listed Call of Duty: The War Collection with a release date of June 1st, with this boxart:

Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War, in one box, for $60? That's a good deal. Considering I haven't played any of those three games, it's a great deal. Right now it's only listed for Xbox 360. I really wanna pick it up.

I might hate Activision, but this trailer does show some promise for the game. Treyarch could full redeem themselves with this.

Still, though. Another COD game only a year after a new release.

What franchise will you rape next, Activision?
