  • Dead Space DLC

Ok so I've just bought Dead Space and I took a look at the DLC and my god it goes on forever without really telling me what to expect. So I was wondering which items are purely cosmetic and which are worth spending some M$ on?

    Thanks in advance . . .

Steam Punk Force Gun (Big Gun Pack) and the Scorpion Armor. Get those 2 and you're set for life.

Get it? You're set for LIFE and its called DEAD space...I'm sorry. Shitty joke.

But in all seriousness. If you get the Steam Punk Force gun and the Scorpion Armor you should have no problem what so ever.

To be honest, I never bought any DLC for Dead Space (though, I did grab the Xbox 360 armor while it was free)

Isn't it all just a mix of cosmetics and "cheats", right? (as in a mixtured overpowered and fancy stuff. Nothing that really adds anything major.)

The scropion add's more inventory space and I think has a little bit more defense to it.

In all truth, you need absolutely none of it to both enjoy the game and get the Platinum trophy. Most of that stuff is just to simply make the game a touch easier or change the look of Isaac's weapons/suit.

The game is by no means "too hard" for you to need the extra defense or attack power. I beat the game on Impossible Mode using only the Plasma Cutter. Sure, I died a few times, but it wasn't difficult enough for me to need cheats or upgrades.

Anyway, my point being: Don't waste your money on the downloadable content; you really have no need for it at all.

Dead Space's DLC is one of the prime examples of how to get DLC wrong.

The Tank Armor is all you need. its the best DLC it has to offer. it has a 60% damage resistance, all 5 rows unlocked and it comes in black.

Let's not exagerate. You don't NEED any of it.

It's pretty fun, but it does contradict certain parts of the games, which is very odd.

I would probably recommend getting Dead Space: Downfall; it definitely is not the greatest anime out there, but its pretty good. You could probably snatch it off Amazon or Best Buy for fairly cheap.

I do NOT recommend Dead Space: Extraction (The Wii game). I was psyched to get my hands on this, and never finished it. I found it extremely boring and just did not like the set up. It is a rail game a lot like Umbrella Chronicles, but that certain something that makes Umbrella Chronicles semi-fun just is not in Extraction.

I really am hoping that Dead Space 2 borrows a lot from the first one and doesn't dive into new territory and become too adventure-like. I don't want a direct copy of the first one obviously...What fun is that...But I would definitely like to see similar game style.

So DS:Extraction sucks eh? I was actively looking for that last saw it for £14 but it was well regarded in the ONM, ah well still haven't started DS yet I'll probably start it up proper once I finish RE5 . . .

If you want a second opinion, I did like it, I think it's a very nice game, having in mind it's a rail shooter, the story is good and gives some backstory for both Dead Space 1 and the upcoming sequel; gameplay wise it integrates some Dead Space elements fairly well (like stasis) with the traiditional rail formula; I think DS: Extraction is at least a rental if you own a Wii, it's sooooo much better than a lot of shovelware/bullcrap games on the console.
