I apologize if this isn't allowed, but I thought I'd share some of my secrets when it comes to Oblivion modding. I didn't invent or discover this method, it was various members of Game-Tuts.com who first did it for Fallout 3.
The method involves converting PC saves to the 360, with light mods and console commands used. I don't feel like explaining in full detail right now, so bare with me please.
On the PC version of the game, play with the console or make a "light" modification using the TES Construction Set. Simply save, and rename your save to "gamedata.dat". Using Modio, inject "gamedata.dat" into one of your 360 saves - rehash and resign. This also works with Fallout 3 (which is what they discovered this for), but Game-Tuts.com doesn't seem very interested in Oblivion, so I thought I'd try it extensively.
I have confirmed and proven that you can do the following on the 360 version without any problems:
- Play as a Dremora race
- Play as a Vampire race
- Play as a Ghost NPC (Like the Night Mother, etc.)
- Play as any of the NPC's in game using the copy/paste feature in CS (Lucien Lachance)
- Set all attributes and skills to 100 and/or beyond
- Enable and use armor that isn't normally equipped (Imperial Palace Guard armor, etc.)
- Join any faction, including the hidden ones
- Add any item to your inventory
- Clone yourself
- Create custom NPC's through cloning
- Spawn any NPC or creature at your position
- Change the size of yourself and/or other NPC's
- Add any spell to your inventory
- Add bounties to NPC's and/or yourself
- Warp to any location
+ more...
Unfortunately you can't add fully customized mods, non-official plugins aren't supported. Some plugins can be used though and still work as long as they don't add new material to the game's engine. For example: You can make the Dremora race playable on the PC using the Construction Set, save your game, covert it to 360 and it should work. But you can't use "Dragons in Oblivion" or anything of the sort since it isn't already programmed into the game's code.
This is a video of me playing as a Dremora:
