I'm not buying it. I don't think he'd release their big surprise so easily.

New Mortal Kombat reboot? New Mortal Kombat live action movie?
Michael Jai White as Jax? Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade? Baraka and Reptile as homicidal maniacs? This footage from what looks to be the next Mortal Kombat game or movie trailer is brutal, disgusting, and perfect.

Whatever this is, it is fucking amazing.

It is fucking amazing and I'm starting to believe that the creators really hate Johnny Cage.

Lol, Johnny Cage gets killed off again. That's fine with me, I never liked him in the original games anyway. The thought of Scorpion as the 'main character' is fucking sick. He was always my favorite...well, him and Sub-Zero. Their rivalry is awesome.

Apart from the baby (seriously, it's things like that and tales from abortion clinic workers who talk about how they see via ultrasound the baby try desperately not to get sliced apart that freak me out. Daddy Mode is Always ON) that was pretty fucking awesome.

That was a hell of a trailer. It brought out my child fond memories on the Saturn with Mortal Kombat and friends playing the shit out of it. Day one if the game/film will be like that.

                  Can you blame them?

Yup same. Him and Reptile are by far my favorite characters in MK.

According to Latino Review the video is actually test footage shot for Warner Bros to secure funding for a new, hard-R Mortal Kombat film.

Reptile's been my favorite from childhood.

Nonetheless, although I never found MK to have the greatest plot, Scorpion's quest for vengeance is always a nice thing to focus on. It's either that or play a platforming game where Sub-Zero gets screwed MGS1 style.

About as much as Street Fighter II each individual character had a reason to be in the tournament, but any overarching plot was nonexistent.

That Mortal Kombat "trailer" was damn good... They had the balls to re-imagine such an iconic franchise, and so far it looks good... I'll miss Scorpion as flaming skull ninja warrior, but what the hell, surprise me!

It easily explains why the WB was happy buying the remains of Midway and leaving the MK guys to their status quo, because they are clearly looking at relaunching the film franchise and the games.
