  • The only way you can play as Rain and Noob Saibot in UMK3 is to buy the crappy 16-bit versions. Otherwise, you can only fight against Noob in the arcade version, and Rain basically just doesn't exist. They were just teasers to make you think that there was something more to the game.

    • Mortal Kombat II is TOO. DAMN. HARD. Fucking cheap AI. You fight on close quarters, auto-grab and you're done. Go long range and it spams projectiles. Those things were money grabbing machines let me tell you!

When blocking hold back and they can't throw you.

If you REALLY want to beat it but be cheap at the same time, play as Baraka and spam the fuck out of his Chop Chop blades. They do as much damage as a uppercut.

Didn't know that. I don't care at this point. It's no longer being fun, I MUST WIN!

EDIT: Thanks man, as usual, you're the MK Sensei.
EDIT 2: Fucking owned Shang Tsung, but with Liu Kang; just spaming Bycycle Kick while moving backwards ALL the time. Almost got a double flawless!
EDIT 3: Shao Kahn can easily be defeated by spamming Mileena's teleport kick, too.

          • I got the double flawless in UMK3 with the first match against Reptile. I main Classic Sub-Zero in that game now and did the square, square, down+X, Down+Square combo and ended it with a slide over and over again.

I got the 100% on this last night when I just boosted the fuck out of playing 103 matches by myself. Theres no way in hell I was gonna play that many shitty online matches.

OK lemme tell you how to get some extra hits on the AI when they start to be a bitch in MK2 and UMK3:

If you keep jumping backwards, the AI will jump forward and try to catch up with you. when you run out of room to jump backwards, jump backwards that one extra time.

The AI will automatically jump to you and be wide open for some damage. This pattern may take a while to learn and will make the AI less of a threat once you have it down, especially with characters who have air throws like Jax and Scorpion. Also take advantage or Raiden, Mileena, Kitana, Liu kang and Kung Lao's special moves you can do in the air.

When you have to face AI Shang Tsung especially who is always nasty to fight, use this trick.

This trick doesn't work against Khan or Kintaro.

UMK3 on the other hand has dumber AI and is easier to exploit.

All you have to do is uppercut any regular character and immediately after you land an uppercut on them. Jump straight in the air.

Don't try to attack or anything just jump straight in the air.
By the time you land from your jump, the AI will have recovered and try to hit you with a jump kick and will miss.

They're wide open for an uppercut so give it to them.

Just repeat this pattern until they're dead. I believe this pattern also works for leg sweeps, and roundhouses.

This pattern also works on Shao Khan, however you have a 50/50 chance that once you land an uppercut on him he's going to do a straight charge, instead of an air charge.

You want him to do an air charge really, that way the pattern makes him a push over.

But as Khan and Motaro are pussies in MK3/UMK3 you should be fine on your own.

I learned these tricks way back when in the arcades and I know they'll still work. Dont be afraid to cheat against the AI ;).

              • I played against nemesiswontdie the other night on some UMK3 and the lag was pretty bad, it was playable but certainly not ideal. It's strange since I was playing against Kaneco on SFIII Online Edition with no lag whatsoever, so it's not a distance issue but rather an issue with the netcode itself.

Really hope they fix that as I'd like to have more games in the future. Damn ninjas and their teleports.
                See you in hell.

                  • I can now safely say that this is the most fun I've ever had with a fighting game, even more so than with Tekken 2 and Bloody Roar back on the PS1. I've been playing this game consistently since launch, whereas I played MvC3 for about 2 weeks before it got boring. With this game, however, I actually have fun sitting in practice and trying out different combos with different characters. I now have 5 characters that I'm confident enough with to use them online. I hope to see more DLC in the future.

                    • New Line Cinema is officially bringing Mortal Kombat back to the big screen.

Better news: it'll be written and directed by the same two dudes from the MK web series.

                              • Even though I'm not a fan of MK: Legacy, I'm glad MK will be returning to the big screen. I just hope they cool off with the 'realism' approach.
