  • the Nintendo 3DS

I thought we should have a thread for this.

Information can be found here along with a full game list: http://e3.nintendo.com/3ds/

Games that are in the works include: Resident Evil: Revelation, a new Paper Mario Game, a new Kingdom Hearts game, Kid Icarus, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, and even remakes of Ocarina of Time and Starfox 64 along with much more. Many of which will be launch titles.

What do you guys think? It sold nintendo's show for me and I will be saving up for it. I love that it can play 3D movies, and I have heard that the quality of the 3D rivals that of a movie theater. It's backwards compatible and I really need a replacement for my Generation 1 DS.

This will be the 1st Nintendo portable I will ever own. I'm surprised at the support of 3rd party titles. Nintendo must be marketing this to the non-casual, since I'd say they have the casuals around their fingers already.

    Titles I'm looking forward to:

    -RE:R
    -DOA
    -Ninja Gaiden
    -Star Fox 64
    -Super Street Fighter 4

There are a few titles I would play from the original generation as well. Bout' time Nintendo!

Does anyone else think that Resident Evil: Revelations was supposed to be the PSP resident evil game?

Even if the 3D tech fails, at least the huge support will justify the purchase alone.

I've heard good things about it, and the 3D can be adjusted or even turned off.
So if you want, its can just be a DS with an analogue stick and gamecube graphics... Still pretty awesome.

                  Resident Evil: Revelations

                  Resident Evil: Revelations

                  Engadget impressions:

Resident Evil Revelations had some of the best graphics we've ever seen on a mobile device, though they were only for close-cropped cutscenes of characters -- we doubt they can keep up this sort of fidelity throughout, and the title wasn't playable. Still, a modicum of camera control let us know what we were viewing was live-rendered, and it was impressive indeed.
                  Guardian UK Hands-on:

We were also allowed to see a short demo of Resident Evil Revelations, a 3DS-exclusive from Capcom. The action seems to take place on a giant ocean liner amid a terrifying storm. On board are Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine who seem to be coming to blows over some typically obtuse Resi plot point, while a shady prisoner looks on. This time, we could use the analogue stick to look around the scene, using short smooth wiping motions on the button. It's also possible to zoom in and out using the A and B buttons

Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater

                    Metal Gear Solid 3DS

The longest demo was a 3DS version of Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater. From a first-person perspective, we join Snake crawling through the undergrowth of a jungle back in 1964, encountering the odd exotic animal as leaves flutter around the character. At one point he triggers a trap which sends a spiked log rolling quickly toward the camera, before it bounces over. The sense of depth here, and the way the 3D visuals allow you to pick out different levels of the foliage, make this impressively dramatic.

My favourite bit was when Snake stands up and walks over a rope bridge. At this point the demo allowed me to pan the camera all around him, getting an awesome 3D view. It's hard to describe, but in some ways this 3D Snake resembles a beautifully painted Games Workshop figurine-- guardian UK

Great video here showing MGS3 in-game on the 3DS. The software for this handheld is looking rather strong aready.

I'd never thought I'd see a Nintendo handheld look THAT good so soon...
