      I've always wanted some sort of orchestrated mix (not a medley, but an actual blend) of most of Genesis/Mega Drive Sonic boss themes;
      Spoiler:

Somehow just spin them all together, into one (slow-paced, preferably) orchestrated track. I smell strange nostalgia greatness. I think it'd be a much better way to present a current day Sonic than all the horrible butch jobs they've done recently. I can still play new Mario games and enjoy them, but Sonic has gone the way of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro and turned into something creepy... for furries or kids who get their games from the bargain bin...

A big personal favorite of mine,
Final Fantasy VIII - 'Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec'
        YouTube video:

This song always brings me right back to the battle with Seifer and Edea on the parade float in Deling City. Classic.

My love of OST's knows no limits I have bought the soundtrack or downloaded at least one song from every game I own some 40gb at least the last time I dared to look some originals and even the odd remix might I recommend:

OverClocked ReMix is a video game music community with tons of fan-made ReMixes and information on video game music.

Most of you will no doubt be aware of it but there's some good alternate versions to some classic game music up there.

As far as the music of game series goes Final Fantasy hasn't been the same since Nobuo left and FFIX was the last one to be the most consistently memorable tracks, particular fave:
          YouTube video:

it's been downhill since with the occasional spark of brilliance although XIII has had it's moments

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is great by the way some new arrangements of classic SMW era music and so on:

          YouTube video:

This surprised me I mean IT'S A MARIO GAME:

          YouTube video:

Gotta love the fan versions too though like Wind Waker:
          YouTube video:

Always loved this theme and this version too.

I could be here forever writing about the OST's I love so that'll do for now

          EDIT:

OK I lied can't forget the Black Mages:

Sonic Adventure 2 ~ "Throw it all Away" (Shadow's Theme)

            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0y4kJ_DxyA

I've always liked Shadow's theme--not necessarily the whole song, but its really a memorable theme.

This won't be my only post in this thread for sure. I'll start out with JRPGs, always an excellent go-to for memorable pieces.

I enjoy the town and dungeon themes in Final Fantasy V. The former tune has a variation of sorts in FFVI but I've always preferred the one in V because it fits the humble towns of that game. I love 90s JRPG stuff, it has a nice quaint feeling. Not a huge fan of the overly orchestral stuff that came later, but there are definitely great games for that. For me, FFVII has the best victory fanfare. Searching For Friends is my favorite tune throughout the series

Star Ocean 2 is easily one of my favorite soundtracks, especially Moderate, Pure A Stream, Sacred Song, and Nede World Map. The first three are straight out of a fairy tale, perfect for Claude's fish out of water experience of Expel. The Energy Nede BGM has a wonderful immensity and anticipation to it, a great track for a game nearing it's end.

Persona 2: Innocent Sin was like an awakening of sorts. I enjoyed the fuck out of Persona 3FES, however there's no comparison in terms of music. They both go for a pop style befitting their contemporary feel but Persona 2IS has such variety. The battle theme is one of the catchiest and most badass I've heard, shop themes such as Gatten Sushi and Peace Diner are variations of each other but sound fully distinct, the familiar Velvet Room music is there, and what would a great JRPG be without a bittersweet piece which just bleeds a feeling of nostalgia?

Recently grabbed NIER Gestalt for the 360 and the soundtrack just blew me straight away (so it's now going on loop as I play and as I do other stuff )

                Hills of Radiant Wind
                YouTube video:

-This is the game's main overworld/exploration theme

Song of the Ancients - Devola
                YouTube video:

-This is the village theme for your home village.
-The vocal track fades in/out as you approach Devola (the sister of the town's mayor)

Song of the Ancients - Popola
                YouTube video:

-This is the library version of the village theme.
-Popola's the town mayor and Devola's sister.
                Spoiler:

                Temple of Drifting Sands
                YouTube video:

-The theme for one of the game's dungeons.

                Cold Steel Coffin
                YouTube video:

-Plays in the wind city (and doubles as a boss theme against one of the game's first bosses)

                Kainé - Salvation
                YouTube video:

-Basically the character theme for the character Kainé.

                The Dark Colossus Destroys All
                YouTube video:

-One of the game's boss tunes.

                Blu-Bird
                YouTube video:

-Another one of the boss/panic/emergency themes in the game.

The official soundtrack doesn't seem to cover the DLC tracks... but some of them are pretty neat (they're basically just alt. versions/remixes of tunes from the main game)

Recycled Vessel DLC - Blu-bird Remix
                YouTube video:

-One of the many tunes that plays exclusively in the DLC dungeon.

                For those who're unfamiliar with Nier;
                -Made by Cavia (Umbrella/Darkside Chronicles)
-An action adventure game w/some RPG elements
-Packed with side-quests (+multi-endings. Though, technically, you're not really done after playing through the game, you're only half-way done.)
-Set 1400 into the future, after humanity first once got almost entirely wiped out by a supernatural force in the 21st century, and now it's about to happen again.
-Story focuses on Nier (Mr.Side-Quest) and his attempt to ensure that his terminally ill daughter has a good life and may live to see the day her disease has a working cure.

Isn't Nier also technically joined with Project Dragonsphere / Drag-on-Dragoon / Drakengard which was also made by Cavia? I can't honestly remember... XD

Most of the music I listen to is from video games (official albums, there are some ripped versions as they were unreleased and have differences - such as "Live Evil" the remix of Biohazard 2's Wreckage of the Mad Experiment is different to the Umbrella Chronicles OST version).

Anyway, one of my absolute favorites is the Final Fantasy VIII Soundtrack with these songs:

(I have to admit, I wasn't expecting this one to be played during the Olympics a few years ago!)
                  Liberi Fatali
                  Force Your Way
                  Dance with the Balamb-fish
                  Succession of Witches
                  Galbadia Garden
                  A Sacrifice
                  Premonition
                  Rivals
                  Truth
                  The Salt Flats
                  Residents
                  Lunatic Pandora
                  Compression of Time
                  The Castle
                  The Legendary Beast

Though, it's also interesting how Compression of Time is also essentially reused in IX as the following -
                  Freya's Theme
                  Kingdom of Burmecia
                  Forgotten Face/Unforgettable Silhouette

Really anything from it, the piano collections',FITHOS LUSEC WECOS VINOSEC album, Black Mages arrangements, or hell... Project Majestic Mix and other remixes are fantastic!

There's also Dancing Calcobrena/Dancing Doll Calcobrena from Final Fantasy IV or the Celtic Moon album - again, pretty much anything from it's soundtrack is also fantastic.

Pretty much all of the songs from the older Clock Tower games, just a tad sad that I personally haven't been able to get my hands on the Ghost Head OST... though there's Clock Tower 3 - Walking Through The Night...

Anything from the Demento/Haunting Ground Sound Track such as Endless・・・DEMENTO.

Love Suicide from Rule of Rose...

Growing Wings the original version from Drag-on-Dragoon instead of the sequel, Forbidden Prelude, Vein of Grief. I like both of the Drag-on-Dragoon/Drakengard soundtracks considering how different they are.

Pretty much all of the original songs from the Guilty Gear games until they were replaced with crappy dull music... some of my favorites - Holy Orders (Be Just or Be Dead), Writhe in Pain, Keep Yourself Alive, Suck a Sage and No Mercy.

I particularly enjoyed the compositions of the Castlevania - Lament of Innocence soundtrack, such as Ghostly Theatre though it's another one I completely enjoy.

All of the music from Shadow of Memories/Destiny, specifically it's main theme (normal and music box variation)

Syphon Filter - Omega Strain Main Theme Version, I enjoy all of the other Syphon Filter music. This one just stands out more. XD

Then there's all of the Tekken, Star Ocean, Silent Hill, Metal Gear, Zero/Project Zero/Fatal Frame, Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, The World Ends With You, Sigma Harmonics, Devil May Cry...

The list just goes on - far too many video game songs and soundtracks that I utterly love.

                  Though, to be honest - I'm also feeling too lazy to list everything in further depth than list them... Sorry! ;

So I keep hearing, that Ending E from Drakengard 1 is basically part of the setup for the events in NieR. Which I can see making kinda sense in many ways. NieR also follows Drakengard's insanity of having multiple playthroughs as necessity for the overall narrative and ending structure.

Cool, that makes perfect sense. I'll have to check out the soundtrack properly later!
