  • Fatal frame anyone?

Was just wondering if there are any fatal framers out there or what you think of the series?

Sucks majorly that FF4 is only available in Japan. Damn You Tecmo!

As I understand it, it's not entirely Tecmo's fault. They and Nintendo got into an argument over who would pay certain costs for production in America and Europe and were unable to resolve the issue. Still, the patch is available for the game now to give English subtitles...assuming you can find a copy of the game at all.

I really like Fatal Frame/Project Zero. Enough that my copies of 2 and 3 are from America, rather than waiting for a UK release. It's my second favourite horror series next to Forbidden Siren (Resident Evil now ranks in around 5th, sadly).

      damn you tecmo AND Nintendo!!!

makes it difficult to enjoy the series if you only have a xbox 360 and you need the backward compatabilty thingy. And I lack xbox live. Grrr!

But I managed to get FF 2 onto the console and am enjoying it again huzzah! Haven't played the first one tho

Well, the Fourth is Wii only. I think, but I'm not 100% sure, the third was a PS2 only title. Since there were only a few bonuses and a non-cannon ending on the X-Box versions I never bothered with them.

Yes, I'm very limited and only have FF2. My ps2 died on me so I can't play FF3 anymore and it's the only game I know of that is pure terror now, RE and SH have gone all Americanized so their not the same anymore too. Forbidden siren is scary too! Played the second one when I was 14 or something and I nearly asked my mum if I could sleep in her bed that night lol!

Fatal Framer over here! (if you hadn't guessed already)

It's along side RE/Biohazard as my favorite series.
FF2 is my favorite but I really like all of them. And as Darkmoon mentioned, the 4th game can now be enjoyed (and understood) in English, thanks to the hard work of a few dedicated fans, who made a patch that translates the entire game!
They are special and unique games and I really hope we get a new one for PS3/360.
I'm also in love with Tsukiko Amano, who performs the theme songe for FF2, FF3 and the Wii game.

I love the Siren games too and Japanese horror in general (Haunting Ground, Rule of Rose, Kuon etc...) It's such a shame that genre/style of games are so few and far between nowadays. Those PS2 days were the glory days!

              True.

Also, on a related topic...does anyone know where the blue hell I can buy a copy of Fatal Frame 4? I seem to be having some issues finding anywhere to sell it.

Yes. I know. I'm sorta hoping someone else might have some idea...or sell me a copy they no longer desire.

I heard that there was a patch for the FF4 but I dont have a wii, nor do I particularly want one either. I'm gonna have to give that game a miss and wait for FF5 (not PS3, not PS3). However long that may take.

That Haunting Ground game was okay, I loved my doggie ^.^ Whats the Rule of Rose? Never heard of that before.

I'd definitely say the first one was the best as even this series started to show signs of being a little tired by 3 IMHO but I still rate it very highly as I was creeped out by FF3 far more than RECV/4/5 put together.

FYI Darkmoon et all: Google the Japanese name and presto:

It is a disturbingly creepy game, that nana with a pram in FF3 was just wrong.

All the series start to get tired if they carry on too much, probably it's just the fans that are getting tired because I played FF3 first before seeing any of the others, and I thought it was the best horror game I had ever come across.

QUESTION: Is there any way that i can get FF3 playing on xbox360?

Nope. I looked into it yesterday. It was a PS2 exclusive.

And danke, Cheese. I am in your debt...although not as much as I'll be in tere debt.

first was one the best i thought. xbox version was easily better than than the ps2 version, with the enhanced visuals, added costumes and higher difficulty. 2nd one i beat once, from renting it, and i don't remember it at all. to me, the scariest thing about the fatal frame series is the floating head. never in my life have i ever seen a creepier ghost than that one.

^So the first one is better than the 2nd one you don't remember and the 3rd and 4th ones, which you never played?
Hard to argue with that logic!

You're not alone though. Some people like the original best. I thought the later games do a lot of things much better but in some other ways, the first one was better.
I loved how new and different it was, to anything else I had played. It has a fantastic story and atmosphere and is genuinely creepy/scary. And I REALLY liked how every single ghost in the game, has a reason for being there and a story behind it (which is explained well in the game with notes and clues). The later games are guilty (at times) of throwing ghosts at you for the sake of gameplay.
But I think they are all brilliant games. Each one is 'best' in some ways but not as good in other ways. Personally, 'Crimson Butterfly' is the one I think I'll always remember most fondly.
