"One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate... and thus defy the tyrannous stars." Resident Evil/Castlevania/Silent Hill/Onimusha/Tekken/Dark Souls
I enjoy this game from beginning to ending; although the game is kind of long, is still enjoy of it; and the story is very well done, dialogue feels pretty good; I do recommend the game. And of course I am waiting for the DLC, that is suppose to be out this month.
I was thinking of picking this up. But is the combat like God of War, Bayonetta or it's own thing?
Totally its own thing. The combat is a bit shallow/simple to begin with, but as soon as you start t unlock more moves/combos and start to pick up on what works best against various types of enemies (and remember that you have a block button during fights with bosses and larger monsters) the combat system actually shines brightly.
Just to bring it to the table but I found it interesting nonetheless.
There's a slight theory (even though Konami have already confirmed it's a different canon it's still interesting) that Lords of Shadow can actually fit within the current timeline which actually makes it really intriguing for me.
The concept of Dracula actually being a Belmont, is an exciting one, and would in some ways mean that Alucard and the Belmonts are connected by a bloodline.
"It is rumored that Gabriel Belmont is the son of one of the nobles of the Cronqvist family. This is a nod to a character, Mathias Cronqvist, who went on to become Dracula, hinting at Gabriel's ultimate fate. " Taken from of all places a wiki - so don't know how accurate it is.
The ending as well also shows Drucul in modern day times with Zobek (for all intents and purposes - Death) saying it will soon be over, if this is set in 1999 or just before we know Julius is about lay down the ultimate smack down.
Also the history of Mathias actually matches Gabriels - Mathias explains that he chose immortality as a vampire so he could curse God for the death of his wife.
Barmy, and I know it's never going to fit, but I kinda like it. The connections are their even in the desperation of it all, there's been some thought behind it all.
This DLC is killing me. I waited all january to get it in February, then waited all february to get it in March. Even though Cox stated it would be released in march for sure, he tweeted a few days ago that "it will probably be out this month". At least we don't have to wait much longer for the second DLC pack now, hell if Reverie doesn't come out this month they might as well just release Reverie and Ressurection together next month lol.

Hate to bump, but I thought this would be of interest to the few CV LOS fans on here lol. New screens were released last week, showing what appears to be a substitution of artwork (which is pretty cool) for the usual cinematics to convey the story this time around, as well as some other random screens from the upcoming DLC. Also, a not so firm release date has been slated as simply "end of march". Two more weeks baby

It wasn't scheduled for release until March 30th, but Konami pulled a fast one and released it (in the U.S. at least) a few hours ago. Sneaky bastards, they should work on their publicity when making the sequel.

Still waiting for the DLC to hit the Xbox LIVE Marketplace (guess it'll hit on either Tuesday or Thursday). Whilst waiting I've kept myself a li'l busy by helping a friend of mine progress in the game (she was stuck on Cornell) and I also just this very moment wiped up all the remaining achievements I was missing.
A lot of people are upset that the dlc is a short 1 chapter for $10. Especially since apparently it was said that it would be 2 chapters and feature a boss fight that also ended up being excluded.
I beat the dlc in about an hour. Not really $10 worth at all. =/ Should have been a $5 one.

I was so excited about this DLC a few months back, I rushed to platinum the game only to find out the DLC had been delayed. Than I played the final battle over and over again to refresh my memory, than the DLC actually came out and...meh. It's not bad, just a little overpriced and was made out to be much more epic and action oriented than it really is. Also as a side note, why is it so hard for Konami to do some decent promoting for this game? When the DLC came out, like 5% of the people who play CV even knew. If you're not following David Cox on twitter, it's like you're automatically in the dark about this game.
I was expecting a little more action rather than Spoiler:
A few puzzles and abunch of ghoul fights. It was nice to play as Laura, I hope Gabriel/Dracula can use her bite attack to regain health in future games. I wish they would've had more of a budget for the DLC, more CGI cutscenes would have been nice...especially for the emotional ending.
The biggest reason I'll be playing the next DLC pack is out of sheer curiousity, I'm interested to see if Gabe will have new dark powers, or even a slightly different character model. Even something small like pale skin/glowing eyes would be nice...he won't be able to use the combat cross much longer, that's for sure lol.
