Anyone hear video games becoming video streaming games where all that get's to a server is your game controls then you get sent a video stream of you playing the game so you don't need a console or high powered pc just a decent net connection for 1080p video.

        That's Cloud Gaming.

It was suppose to be a big deal during E3 2009. Microsoft didn't think much of it. But Apple is trying to make it all happen by 2014.

During the last edition of E3, cloud gaming came back and this is some of what was reported:

LOS ANGELES - At E3, new gaming company OnLive demoed their new gaming service ahead of the official launch tomorrow. OnLive lets gamers play games without purchasing or installing them on their computers. TechNewsDaily went hands-on.

OnLive provides a suite of games, over 20 of the latest titles at launch including Borderlands, Assassin's Creed 2, Mass Effect 2, Just Cause 2 and many more. All of these games are available to play without installation or purchase through OnLive's online service.

The advantage of using OnLive is it let's gamers play games on computers that aren't powerful enough for cutting edge games. And the upcoming micro-console will let them play console games on their TV without a console. The game is installed on OnLive servers, then piped to a gamer's computer via an Internet connection. The player's keyboard or gamepad input is sent back to the servers and the results are then transmitted to the player's computer.

Stuff to remember: Avoid forums if you're having a bad day.

Meh I'll just stick with my blackberry and keep my psp for portable gaming. To be honest this doesnt surprise me it seems the natural step forward. hell didnt they try this before? I cant remember the name of the phone (N67 or something?) but it was also a game based phone. Like people have said though this will be very expesnive. However if marketed well I feel that this phone could be a big hit. I assume the phone will have other features such as video, mp3 and enternet just like every other high end phone around these days an what sets it apart is that it will have superior gaming abilities. Then again the phone could be unreliable especially with all this hardware packed into such a small device.

            - Horrible video quality
            - Laaaaaaaaaaaaaag
            - You own your games only as long you keep paying them
            - If/when the company shuts down you lose all your games

Can't see why anyone would subscribe to them.

It's just an alternative method and online servers never last forever when newer games come out the older games are are forgotten about until they eventually decide to drop support and close the server that's why I hate games that don't offer a LAN option. Also this is cheaper than buying a game from a store as your not paying publishing and packaging costs, don't get me started on console failures rrod, ylod and bugged firmware updates. I'm sure the video quality can be compressed and scaled back to match your connection speed so it doesn't lag without much overall quality loss. I'll stop now i'm not getting paid for this, i'm indifferent to the current gen gaming anyway. I hate console fan boys/girls.

Hope this doesn't undermine the NGP/PSP2 in any way, considering that they're similar. Well actually, then again this seems more focused on being an actual phone, unless Sony are going for a two-pronged assault on the handheld market.
                See you in hell.
