I've seen plenty of criticism on Suda51 and Mikami everywhere (hell, check Gaf) so I don't get where you're coming from. They sure must of gave a bad taste in your tea when they pissed in it for you to make a random post out of nowhere in a rage against those two, given the timing!

Got myself a copy of the game just recently and been playing it all day (taking a break now, just finished the 3rd Grim boss on Legion)
Lovin' every bit of it so far (except from how rough the transitions between areas with points of no return are. Exploration's like a gamble or something.) Can be a bit rough around the edges sometimes, but still pretty solid. Also, love storybooks and random banter/dialog. Good stuff. Blum <3

Stuff isn't necessarily top notch, but you at least feel like whoever made it had an idea, had sources of inspiration and crafted things with the magical ingredient known as love for the medium.
Originally posted by Mr. Spencer View PostWarren Spector for example doesn't get half of the attention that those two do, is it because we're all a bunch of weeaboos who think that the Japanese can do no wrong?

Originally posted by Mr. Spencer View PostI'm glad this game got mixed reviews, I was getting sick of all the bootlicking people gave to Suda51 and Shinji Mikami, as though neither of them could do any wrong. Don't try and pin this one on EA either, that boat has already sailed.
Second, Suda is awesome. We all know the man can't do game design to save his life, but his character and world design combined with his ability to create a deep, interesting story (killer7) or light genre fun (Shadows of the Damned) and even create a delicious balance between the two (No More Heroes) means the man deserves your respect. Plus, am I mistaken or have you never played a Suda game? Something I myself am trying to fix for you at the minute? Bow to him. It'll feel good.
Third, I'm pretty sure the game's getting good reviews. If your counting EDGE's review, then I need to remind you that it's EDGE. I'm a subscriber and I don't really hold weight to their reviews, other than an often interesting take, a hilarious misfire or when they're just fanboy baiting greatness. Need I remind you of their Killzone 2/FEAR 2 review fun? If you're talking about the reviews in general for the game, then I'm going to get my large "SEVEN TO NINE SCALE" stamp and beat you with it. It's beside my IGN slander stamp, in front of the Rely on Horror mockery one.
And my last, and most important point, is that Shadows is an amazing game. It's got Mikami's tight gameplay; this time playing like an innovation of Resident Evil 4's core mechanics as opposed to Vanquish's "Oh my god this is so aweosme my eyes are bleeding" style, combined with Suda's colourful character design, on a genuinely fresh and funny adventure. After playing the masterclass in awful that was Duke Nukem Forever, Shadows acts as the perfect counterbalance; crude but wonderful. It's doing for dick jokes what Portal 2 did for memes. Or however you can describe Portal 2's humour. And the whole time, Yamaoka's beating his guitar and god damn if my heart and my privates aren't screaming "THIS IS GAMING". Shit be good, son.
Oh, and I lied. This is my last and most important point. My keyboard is wireless. I will beat you with it for this slander. You have been warned.

Sorry for the double post.
Spoiler:
The nod to Evil Dead got a good smile f=and laugh from me. Merely stepping onto the porch gave me a "this looks like Evil Dead". Then with the demon coming out of the woods and the camera work I knew it was a nod.
And how Garcia crushes the "deadite" was amazing.
