I will be getting the 360 version in a couple of hours (tempted in double dipping with PC so me and my friend can have a blast together) and soon post impressions later. Blue Castle has also seemed to delivered on doing a good job on Dead Rising with the reviews so far. A damn fine job if I'd say so considering.

I haven't brought it yet (I have too many games to finish first) but a friend picked it up yesterday and I gave it a small run. Definitely more of the same but much refined and fixed; if you liked the original you'll like this.

I must have soaked around 17-20 hours into this game already. I have finished the campaign with a perfect S ranking (saved over 50 survivors but will do another run to rescue the remaining ones, and the secret pysychos to finish the notebook) and damn I was impressed. Blue Castle really nailed the spirit of the first game, and then added more to the formula. Also TIR (Terror is reality) is great stuff for the humour factor, and to get some nice money to put in the main game.

I've even barely touched the surface with how much content is packed into this game. Buy it people!

Is it possible to save every non-important survivor in on one run?

Yes, I've missed 3 missions (one at the start which is hidden, same for before the end of case 6) suvivor related but I had the rest. You can, if using the shortcut and resources, while keeping an eye on your time management, you can do it all in one go.

Any tips on finding/remembering hidden anything? Can I mess around if I've completed all other secondary objectives and just wait until the deadline closes in for the next primary objective without worrying about missing stuff after I complete said mission?

Well if you plan to do all survivors/notebook then you're not going to have much time to really look around. The best thing to do is do the former and on a second run (replay value is high for this game) and take your time more with the world. Best thing to do if you want to do it that route.

It is 72k kills in one run, they reset with each restart, according to the interwebs anyway.

What I am wondering is when you restart to hidden shortcuts you discover from rescuing survivors remain accessable from the start?

Aye, you need to kill 72,000 zombies in one run. The best thing to do is either let your daughter die and not do any of the case files (or keep her alive if you wish, but the game still continues if she turns into one of the living dead) and head to the underground using some of the crazy vechiles you can use in the game to boost your zombie death count.

As for the hidden shortcuts, they wont remain accessable from the start due to the time scenario. You need to rescue a specefic survivor (the burnt tanned women rescue) to be able to warp between one side of the city to the other, and also need to get to after the "bank run" case to quickly shortcut between Fortune Park and one of the casinos to save time. There's also the Underground you can use during the course of the case files if you wish to go through that route in all of Fortune City. There are several options opened up for you.

I mean yeah the zombies on screen were a LOT, but DR 1 had ridiculously well detailed character models, where as Chuck and his daughter look very .. last gen ? compared to that.
I noticed the same thing. The bloody mess that Chuck ends up with when killing so many zoms look like straight out of a old Ramero film and that might have been what they were going for if it wasn't for the fact squips and staines that isn't on Chuck were realistic looking. Of course the lighting is better but after 4 years, you would think a developer didn't have to sacrifice anything that came before.

What are you talking about. Frank is a freaking mutant in DR1.
                              Chuck is way better.

Shape-wise, yeah but the textures seem a bit "muddy" in Case: Zero.
